New Rig, how good is it?

I'm getting a Sapphire 7970 and a Seasonic PSU for about 500$. All the other parts were on a stock Acer I got last Christmas as a gift. I didn't know a single thing about PC's and gaming then, so I don't really care what I had. I think if I get this GPU and PSU it's seems like I run all the stuff I want fine. I did ALOT of research since this is my first upgrade, and hopefully in the future I will build a high-end PC from scratch. I would link the exact things I'm getting, but I'm on my phone. Ill link it if you guys want when I wake up tomorrow.

Thats it, I basically play all games (multi-genre gamer) anyways, anyone have any idea how well this will perform? only have a 1600x900 monitor right now, upgrading in the future though. I have ALL the parts but the GPU & PSU. It is a stock Acer with upgrades im adding. So all i really want is high-ultra with 60+ on MOST modern games. Also I am wondering how this PC will perform in the next-gen games also. Thanks!

it should handle all games currently at that resolution pretty well. And to answer that question about future titles, as lehtv and others pointed in order to max next gen games you might need to upgrade within a year time. But that is your call because games on pc while looks alot better still suffer from "while you have the recommended specs that still doesn't mean you can max it with desirable framerates." Consoles akin to apple have games that are fully tailored to running well over the future of the titles made for it, albeit it still has the possibilty of running slow/poorly

60+ fps on high/ultra should be easy on 1600x900 in most games. Some that may choke: Crysis 3, CoH2, maybe BF4?

My next upgrade would be a new 1080p monitor, and an SSD if you don't have one

I agree with lehtv on the GPU performance. An i5 would have been a better fit for a gaming CPU, but you have to work with what you've got when you're salvaging parts from an existing machine.
