I have no clue which nvidia manufactorer is the best. I know that BFG is good but those are almost $70 more expensive and I might as well buy a x800xl then. Also I choose to stick with the 6600gt because with the upcoming release of the next-gen video cards later on this year getting a high end video card seems a waste. I'm sure the 6600gt will be plenty for now, at least and will show alot of improvement from the 5200 fx that I'm currently using.

I also went back to the wave master case because I'm read many reviews denoucing the TT for its noise. Also I need a front door that opens out to the right.

And I need the xp-90. The processor is OEM and I don't feel like waiting another month for the retail boxed version.

I am also thinking about downgrading the processor because with the upcoming release of the dual-core I feel getting a 3500+ is almost a waste of money. Should I just get a 3000+ or a 3200+ and OC that?

1. Try SVC.com for a cheaper XP-90 cooler. Also venice chips should run cool, so even stock cooling will be sufficient.
2. Downgrade the ram to $100-$110 1 gig Value VX chips ram ie. TwinMos and Gskill PC3200 variety on Newegg. Those can do 2-2-2 timings at 3.3V+ which your dfi board will offer.
3. That PSU is good but too expensive. Instead get Tagan 480 (same as OCZ 420 without adjustable rails), or Enermax 495. I have OCZ 420, but I paid much less than $115 for it. Otherwise, it's too overpriced. No need to spend over $80-85 on a PSU unless you have an SLI system. I am pretty sure you can get OCZ modstream 520 for even less than $115.
4. I like the Thermaltake Tsunami case. Or LianLI PC-60?
5. Take the savings from 2 and 3 and upgrade 6600GT to X800XL for $273.
6. I wouldnt get a cordless mouse since they are heavy and drain batteries. But if you insist...

EDIT: If you still want the OCZ 420 Powerstream, these are better prices: $86 or $89

Are the stores with the PSU reputable? Reseller ratings do not have such good reveiws.

Seems like overkill with your case/psu for that setup. I just built a second system using an antec sonata w/ the 380w tru power psu. It is $97 shipped from chiefvalue. That has plenty of juice for my setup which is very simlar to yours. If your trying to future proof, then thats cool but you can still save a bit on the psu.

Also the system I just built, I put in the gigabyte turbo force 6600gt with the fanless heatsink. It has a noticeable difference in performance over my XFX 6600gt and the system is so quiet you can barely tell its even on.

Yeah, get a cheaper case, preferably >100 dollars, cheaper ram, a cheaper PSU (Enermax or Tagan or whatever are great PSUs that are cheaper at the same wattage), maybe a 3200+ instead of a 3500+, use all the money you save to get an X800XL or even a 6800GT if you can afford it.

That seems like a decent setup. The only thing I really don't like is the mouse, but I know that's a personal decision. I would go for an MX518. The benefit of having something that's two feet from your computer be cordless is lost on me, but then I do other wacky stuff like networking with cables instead of wifi.

Won't pumping that much power into the memory sufficently reduce its life?

Well, looking at your setup, it looks like you have an insane OCing comp going on there. What's to worry about your ram when your CPU is undergoing the same stress?

I agree pretty much with what everyone else is saying.... Nice set up, but the PSU is too much $$$. You can do better. I prefer Antec, but other brands such as Enermax are also very good.

Well actually for normal memory it would burn after 3.0V. But Value VX chips (make sure you get those though if you plan on running above 3.0V) are factory warrantied up to 3.5V.

Just ask on a memory forum, I forget what exact model numbers had those chips.

This thread will most likely help you pick out the memory I am talking about. Just ask in there.

Ok, I think I'll go with the G.skill ram. But according to a review at neweggs they needed some kind of active cooling to get it to overclock and run stable. Is that true? If so, what is a good memory cooler/heat spreader?

yeah 181 is too much for memory when you can get memory that will perform similarly for about $100. go with value vx or the twinmos. both like voltage and are good for the dfi board.

It's a nice price. Well under my budget of around 1.5k.

Do, I really need a 6800 GT or a X800 XL? I don't intend to game at much. Does the improved perferment justify the extra cost.

Meh, I like the case. Looks good. Also I like the Modstream cause you can change the output without voiding the warrenty.

BTW. jayjayl is just jay repeated twice cause gmail wouldn't allow 4 character names. LOL

I dont really like the tsunami... It kinda seems too flashy and expensive.. I also heard it is significantly louder using the same fames compared to any other case using the same fans.

I also don't like blindly neon lights flashing in my face giving me seizures. :Q

But it is also your choice, your case, can't get in the way of love..

If you don't game much then you won't want to blow the big coin on those cards. Basically you could play anything with what you have-it would just look a little smoother with the AA/AF or increased res that the high end cards afford you. It would change your budget to go bigger on the video card-not worth it unless you intend to play a good bit.

In essence the gamers aren't so happy with the mx1000. One problem that afflicts it in some cases is that it takes a couple of seconds to recalibrate if lifted slightly off the surface and put back down. I guess this would be the major reason gamers wouldn't like it as that could make the difference in a frantic game.

Personally I have a logitech wireless keyboard and optical mouse set and find it great for gaming. With wireless mice in general many hardcore gamers claim there is a bit of lag in a wireless mouse and prefer a wired solution such as the mx518 previously mentioned. I'm probably not good enough a gamer to notice, certainly my rather bog standard mouse feels very responsive.

Apart from those possible concerns the mx1000 is a very nice mouse. If the idea of it having problems when lifted concerns you you could always opt for the non-laser mx700 which I don't believe suffers from that problem and is a great mouse.

If you aren't gaming much then the concerns about the mx1000 might well be a non issue.
