Well it's been almost 3 years now since I've built a new rig from top to bottom, was going to get a 24" LCD too but that will have to wait as I'm spending more here than I anticipated, please feel free to make suggestions.

Antec P182 Gun Metal Black - $159.99-$25 MIR.

2 X SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB - $239.98 for both

EVGA 640-P2-N825-AR GeForce 8800GTS 640MB - $394.99 - $30 MIR.

Thermaltake toughpower W0117RU ATX12V / EPS12V 750W - $189.99 -$30 MIR. *I've read good things about these PSU's with regards to their noise levels.

2 X OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 - $213.98 - $80 MIR for both. *Hoping these will work together well in a 4X1 configuration.*

GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R - $159.99

Intel Core 2 Quad Retail Q6600 - $294.99

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade - $242.99

ZEROtherm BTF90 92mm Silent UFO CPU Cooler - $41.99 - $10 MIR *Not the best cooler but pretty quiet and close to top tier coolers*

Grand Total before MIR's = $1938.89

There are a few items on here I'm kind of meh about, including Vista and the 8800GTS. Suggestions for trimming the price would be appreciated, I am looking to be ordering this in the next couple weeks or whenever Newegg starts guaranteeing G0 stepping on the Q6600's.

Thanks in advance.

You are overpaying for that system. I would suggest you shop around a bit. First of all you can get seagate 500gb drives for around 120$.

That PSU sucks, get the Corsair 620HX.

You should be able to find that video card much cheaper... i can get it for $350 - 30$ MIR in CANADA!!!

That ram is not the greatest, get the Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800...

Drop the combo board, they are fairly useless. I would take a look at the Abit IP35-E. It is really cheap at newegg right now and is a great board.

Quad is fine... i guess... I think you can get a G0 guaranteed from Tank Guys.

If you plan on going to watercooling at some point... take a look at the Coolermaster Stacker series... they are wicked. Also you can get the P182 much cheaper.

Hmm i would change the cooler.. it isn't very cheap.

Antec Nine Hundred $130-40 = $90
Or if you want to spend more than $100 on a case I'd get something nice like a Lian Li with 120mm fans.

SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD403LJ 400GB - $85 +
Cavalry 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM 16MB USB 2.0 External - $87 after Rebate - $10 google checkout = $77
Or you can just buy the 2 cavalry drives and take them out of their casings.

Keep the graphics card (+$350). Add Acer 24 inch monitor - $300 after $100 rebate

Thermaltake toughpower W0117RU ATX12V / EPS12V 750W - $189.99 -$30 MIR. *I've read good things about these PSU's with regards to their noise levels.

There is no need for this much power for Q6600 and single 8800GTS card. OCZ GameXStream 600Watt - $90 after $10 MIR. There is always Corsair 520 modular for $95 or so as well at ZipZoomFly and it has 41A on 12V rail.

2 X OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 - $213.98 - $80 MIR for both. *Hoping these will work together well in a 4X1 configuration.*

Do you really need 4 gigs of ram? Buy ram when you need it not to futureproof since by the time you need it you can buy twice as much for same price.
OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2x1GB) - $82 after $40 Rebate - $20 extra with promo code EBL08104308301 = $62

Do you intend to use DDR3 ram? (only 2 slots too), you need RAID and 8 SATA ports? You can just get Gigabyte P35 DS3L for $100 It'll be more than enough to overclock Q6600 to 3.6ghz.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 at ClubIT - $300

ZEROtherm BTF90 92mm Silent UFO CPU Cooler - $41.99 - $10 MIR *Not the best cooler but pretty quiet and close to top tier coolers*
If you are not going to be overclocking too crazy for which Zerotherm isn't good enough anyway, this Cooler Master Hyper TX2 $17 after Rebate is one of the best coolers for the $. Or you can get Thermalright Ultra 90 for $20. I am sure you have a spare 92 mm fan around.

I would just go for Vista Home Premium version.

Grand Total after MIR's before OS is roughly $1,475. If you dont game a lot, just get 8800GTS 320mb and save another $100.

I got the P182 case myself and man, what a great case. I'm glad I spent the extra cash for it. I'd go with it for sure. I also just bought a new system and I just put it together last night. I went with the Corsair 620hx PSU - look up the reviews on that one. It's rated a very quiet PSU and a very good one. They said that Corsair actually used much better parts inside than other PSUs. I also went with a Gigabyte mobo as well as the Samsung spinpoint drive. Looks like we're got a lot in common!

I'd keep that P182 case though, a very nice case.

I have to say, all the parts you wanted are pretty close to my picks as well. Maybe I'd go with PCP&P silencer 750W for a 700+ model but that's it. And perhaps Ultra 120 Xtreme for HSF. However, all very good picks, I love your list!
