New Router

I screwed my DI-704 up and i can't figure out what's wrong.
dont worry bout that though. I've been wanting a new one for a long time and this just gives me an excues to get one

I'm looking for a 4-port LAN with 1 WAN port router.
I also would like a cable modem built into it.
I prefer linksys but if you have any suggestions i'm very open

i have a Best Buy and Staples in my town. I really want to pick one up tonight... Best buy closes at 10pm here 3hrs...

Any Ideas>?

I would not recommend an all-in-one modem/router. Firmware updates are rare and separates are just as cost effective.

My recommendation:

Motorola SB5120 (make sure your cable co. supports it)
Linksys WRT54G or BEFSR41

I have WRT54G v4.0 and it's quite stable (had Netgear once and it needed one restart/day).
I heard the new WRT54G v5.0 (VxWorks OS) is even better than v4.0.
WRT54GS is better, while WRT54GC is the new compact router.

Then again, if you're not doing online gaming or P2P, probably most any wi-fi g router would work fine.
Buy.com has WRT54G for $39.99 (AR $15), rebate is valid for BB too!

I Found that BEFSR41 for 39.99 and free shipping!
so it looks like I'll go with that

as far as a modem goes what do you think about the BEFCMU10
They got it for 55.99 at newegg.
The SB5120 is 66.99

IT's workin like a beautiful piece of machine should

I'll probably pick up a BEFSR41 another day.

Excellent choice. However why are you still planning on a BEFSR41 since it's a router with a 4 port 10/100 switch and the WRT54G already has one?

FWIW I just went to Wal-Mart and picked up a BEFCMU10 v4 (latest version) and it's working like a champ. The v4 has 3 year warranty on the side of the box by the SKU, and the image on the top of the box shows 3 LED's under "Internet" that read "DS US Online".
