Just finished building this PC not too long ago and well lets just say its impossible to ignore how much it lags when im doing things on the internet like watching a video on youtube or listening to music on the internet because I can hear it come through the speakers. Basically the pc lags when i do almost anything on the internet...while im writing this i may not hear any static lag from the speakers but I do have to wait a second or two for the words to appear that im typing.....wtf?

Btw I hav CAM installed from when I bought the NZXT lighting kit and every time the pc lags I can see the load percentage for the CPU go up at least 15-20% when I load a webpage.

Win 10 Pro 64bit
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD
AMD Ryzen 7 1700
ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero
Thermatake WATER 3.0 Triple Riing Water Cooling
G.Skill Tridentz Series 16GB (2x8GB (PC4 25600) F4-3200C14D
GTX 960 (SLI)

(Storage)
PNY 480 GB SSD (STEAM ONLY)
4TB Seagate Backup Plus External HD
1T Spin Drive
4T Seagate My Cloud (Wireless)

NZXT AC-HUEPS-M1 Advanced Lighting
Two internal NZXT USB Hubs
Razer Lycosa Keyboard
G700 Logitech Gaming Mouse

Well, kind of hard to help you when we have no system specs. Please list the entire system components and we can try to help more.

Hmm, nothing really stands out. If overclocked, set it back to stock clocks, then test again.

And if it still lags, try unplugging all USB devices that aren't strictly necessary. Maybe even test a plain / generic keyboard.

If the only place the text typing lags is on this site in edit boxes - that's actually the site, and not really your PC.

I havent had time to mess with any of the BIOS settings so everything should still be set to default. Its not theinternet or websites...if it was i dont think CAM software would capture the load spikes from the CPU when it lags on the internet.

I am planning on unplugging everything and disconnecting all the extra drives and peripherals...maybe ill find the culprit.

I unplugged the lighting kit along with the USB hub its connected to leaving only one for the PC headers, unplugged all the drives leaving only the one running the OS....fired up the pc and went to youtube to try to open a video and immediately hear the sound lag along with the PC. I am now downloading a windows update and the same thing is occurring because its downloading from the internet.

Restarting the pc then checking BIOS is set to stock settings..

Ugh lol

Well. it looks like resetting the settings in the BIOS solved it and the only thing i tweaked was the logo to appear full screen on start up lol

I guess there was somehting else that needed to be reset tho...thanks guys.

Have you updated your bios since you put the system together? Doing a quick google search on "ryzen lag" showed quite a few results and some mentioned that AMD was supposed to have a fix for this in some of the newer BIOS files. If you haven't done that, you might give that a shot and see if it may help. If you've done that and updated the drivers for the motherboard, I suppose it could be some kind of bios setting perhaps? You might try to find an article or video showing the features on that board and see if it will help.

Just in case.......ROG Crosshair VI Hero drivers and tools

Oops.......posted right after you posted that you fixed it. Glad you got it fixed.

BIOS update would also be my suggestion. Are you using the mobo's onboard audio, video cards, or an addon sound card? Also, what browser are you using?

Well i thought resetting the bios settings had done it but i think it was only temporary cause the lags are back. Btw i had to rebuild the whole pc because the pc didnt want to turn on after I re-plugged in some storage drives. So i put it together outside the case on top of the motherboads box and it fired up right away. PC is back together now but still laggin while im on the internet though.

I fairly certain the BIOS is up to date cause i did flash the bios with my usb flashdrive after I put it together but I will double check when i get a chance.

I am using the onboard sound by the way and using gtx 960sli for video. browsers are firefox and opera and microsoft edge.

Take out one of the 960s and see if the issue improves. If it does, try the other one before giving up.

Also, run an internet speed test (through a browser) and tell us what numbers you are seeing.

ok but how could it be the internet speed if CAM shows a spike in the cpu usage when the lags happen ?

so it only lags while surfing the net? maybe there is a plug-in or extension issue?

is there any lag on the desktop? playing games? watching movies?

what about ram timings? cpu frequency? any other odd things going on?

this seems more of a software issue rather than hardware.

CAM Bugs:
http://support.camwebapp.com/forums/252256-cam-bugs

The software is connecting to the internet and mining your data !

Oh god, not this FUD again. It's sending them your system specs and and temp/performance data as you agreed to in the TOS. Even when you're not downloading any games, Origin and Steam are far more "chatty". Admittedly Origin much more than Steam. I'm actually surprised how little data Steam sends. If you don't like your hardware details being sent to the developers of the software you use, find a new hobby as that ship sailed many years ago.

Just finished building this PC not too long ago
Can you please say exactly how long ago? And what is your preference when you're not using the machine: shut down or leave it on?

Reason I ask these two questions, is that I'm wondering if it's windows update. If you just built the rig, and windows updates hasn't finished, it's a lag you will have to suffer through until it finishes, and you'll probably want to just leave the machine on until it does.
