A few answers.
Yes, these are from warez builds, and no, I wouldnt be able to tell you where to get it from, because the person who originally gave it to me specifically asked me not to. All I'm gonna say, is go to the site where I linked the pics from, and you MIGHT be able to find what you need.
I've signed up for the $10 RC1 release, but I didnt feel like waiting. The screenshots are from 2481, as 2475 doesnt have the new themes, but personally I'm still running 2475.
If you're talking about the similarities between oses, why not just say it looks like an original mac? They were the first to have a GUI, awfully horrible of everyone to copy that huh? Just think of it as a genre of movie or music or anything. If you were able to name the first action movie or rock song, would all thereafter be absolute copycats and biters? Of course not.
And yes, you can install the regular windows look. In fact, one of my installs was so screwed that it didnt even install the new themes, and I was stuck with the win2k look. Ugh. Too plain for me.
<< THats not so true, prior to build 2469 ppl were using a workaround provided by microsoft. When 2469 came out that stopped working and it took a week or two to get it running. And now its not acutally cracked, The rest "crack" just uses a tool for OEM to reset the OS b4 the ship it to customers. You running 2481 now? I haven't bothered to upgrade from 2475. >>
Whether its "cracked" or not doesnt matter. It works doesnt it? Office XP has been final for months, and thats been cracked for months, even though it requires the same activation. Theres nothing that an entire society of crackers can't crack. Remember SDMI, the totally be all end all of music security, that called on everyone to crack it, to test whether it could be done? That took roughly a day. Havent heard anything about it since, because I think theyre finally beginning to realize theres nothing that cant be cracked, given the proper motivation.
The activation really isnt meant to keep people from downloading them and copying them, because MS knows they cant prevent that. Its supposed to prevent the average user from lending it to their buddy cause its so bloody expensive. But who here is an average user?
And I'd have to agree, of all the improvements, my favorite is the cleartype. It makes an amazing difference, even on a CRT, where its supposedly not supposed to work. It looks crappy at low res, but very good at high.
<< And hey, the US maybe in price heaven ... but the rest of the world isn't. There are a lot of places where 64MB is becoming standard. For me, I'm in Brazil, and 128MB dimms are still a bit expensive (I'm a lucky bastard ... my primary computer has 256MB). Don't forget that Microsoft is a multi-national company, and the economy isn't going that well everywhere on earth. >>
All I have is one word. Although I cant say it caused its banned. Rhymes with egay. Tons of people ship internationally, and thats where I got a 128mb PC133 SODIMM from. I'd imagine a regualr dimm would be even cheaper.
