new search feature IS NOT WORKING WITH NORTON

Here's a thought, try adding forums.anandtech.com to your whitelist and see what happens. I had Norton installed for a few months back in 2003 and I remember being able to get around this.

Amazing what can happen if you learn to use your software properly. :roll:

Well keep trying. I don't remember what I ended up doing, but I could update my AT profile and use Norton IS 2004 simultaneously at one point in time.

Ok, it does seem to be related to Norton's. In order to get the search function to work now, I have to configure privacy options to permit anandtech.com to obtain information about visited sites. I don't know why they need/want this...this alone may be reason not to use the forums. I don't know if this was an intentional change made by Jason or if it was made by someone else or if it was unintentional. In any case, I didn't need to enable info about visited sites before Saturday. If this wan't intentional, hopefully Jason or whomever will know where to look to fix the problem.

Let's make this clear. Symantec (Norton) is not causing this problem. They implemented no change in the last week. It was this forum that changed something in the last week, that Symantec would not pass ( or that Symantec didn't think should be passed). It was the change to this forum last week that occured last week that casued the problem, not Symantec. In my opinion, the solution I found is only a temporary work around until the forum corrects the problem, if they choose to. Or, modifies their privacy statement.
