New Sony FE-Mount Lenses

Today I came across Sony's announcement of the new a6300 on engadget or wherever, and in reviewing the "article" noticed a new lens attached to the camera. I don't know why I never saw a Sony press piece for these new lenses, but for all of us Sony e-mount camera owners, these three new lenses are kind of exciting! Remember, these are native e-mount lenses; no more will we need to use the a-mount adapter to get these fast zooms.

Personally, I'd still go for the Batis 85 f1.8 and the f4 versions of the two zooms, but many others have wanted 2.8 and 1.4 native options, so here they are.

The FE 24-70 f2.8 is good for the full frame A7 series, but it's not wide enough for the APS-C cameras like the A6000 or A6300. IMO, it looks awkwardly huge with mirrorless cameras. Canon and Nikon have big DSLRs to handle these huge professional lenses.

On a tangent, the A6300 is the first mirrorless camera I've considered. I'm waiting for reviews first tho...

I've used all of the f4 variants (16-35, 24-70, and 70-200) with the A7 and it hasn't felt awkward at all. I don't know how much heavier / bigger the 2.8 versions of the 24-70 and 70-200 jobs will be.

I've used the A mount 70-200 on my A7 with adapter. While heavy as f, I haven't found it to be awkward to handle. Got to figure a native mount would be an improvement.

The 85/1.4 G-Master seems redundant when there is the Zeiss Batis 85/1.8 which is cheaper.

Some photographers want/need that extra stop (1.8 -> 1.4)

Sounds like you're hoping for an APS-C E-mount 17-50mm f/2.8 GM of some sort? It's too bad Sigma doesn't make the 18-35mm f/1.8 for E-mount.
