Astralite - yeah, i'm glad i've ripped most of my music at 192... i don't remember why i did actually, but i can hear the quality difference now, to some extent at least. before it was all the same

z-640s
z-540s

If it's the 5.1 set, go with the logitech adapter. I think it will get you some output from the center channel where just some splitters would make that difficult.

It's not going to be true surround sound of course, but you'll get stereo surround.

I was the proud owner of a pair of z2300 for about 3 days. Returned them. Lesson is do proper research on audio sites (not maximum PC) before making audio purchases.

For $99 you can do a lot better for mids and highs, but certainly not a set with a subwoofer. What exactly did you replace it with, and dare I ask, was it in the same price bracket?

It comes with one... I had a set of z-640s too. Can't find mine, either.

I think the adapters are set up to self destruct after a year or so. That way you have to buy a new one.

If you want remote control over the volume, you should be able to run the audio through the tv, turn off the tv speakers in the menu, and then control the logitech volume through the tv remote.

i have z-2300's too, they song pretty good, but not what i expected from high end 2.1 speakers like these, the sub is alright at mid volume but i hear clicks inside of it when blasting music with high bass. speakers only have highs, you will not hear any mids. i've alreay turned down all my treble and high end of the spectrum. no help.

to each his/her own i suppose... i love em... no problem with clicking or anything. i've noticed the burn in though... they sound a little nicer than right out of the box

The clicks you hear is what's called "port chuffing." It's because the subwoofer driver is bottoming out (it's only 8 inches). Even powerful 12" subs with 40 pound drivers can bottom out given the volume levels. Your best bet is either to turn the bass down, or stuff the port with socks. This will reduce extension but increase the output capacity which should remove a large percentage of the port chuffing. This has nothing to do with high frequency sounds coming from your satellites. I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion that it could be, but never mind that.

Even with logitechs u are missing waaay more than half.

Swan M200s have been recommended as a good starting point for music. Anythign beyond that and you better do some serious research before u start spending money.

It's not that bad, if you do away with the bottom bass octaves (a free pass which we can do for all speakers since subs are so popular now), you get "close" to 2/3 the sound. I mean its certainly not flat (I assume somewhere around +/- 7.5db) but you do get "audible" volume to near 13KHz with those bullet plugged 3-inchers.
