Solved! New SSD. - Cheap?

Out of a bank of 20 computers I repurposed back in 2016... one of the solid state drives has finally failed it seems. (120gb Adata SP550)

Looking to order 2-4 more for spare backups so I can preload some images on them in case others start to fail. What are some good/cheap yet known to be "alright" SSD's these days? 120-240gb is perfect for how these machines are used. (They are 'frozen' with the base image and revert back to normal after every restart)

It seems like these days 120gb are fairly rare and might end up costing more than a 240gb, but figured I'd post here to see if anyone has any recommendations.

240GB is likely as low as you want to go with new SSDs, and many manufacturers aren't producing the 120GB variety anymore (like you mentioned).

If you don't need top performance, drives like these should be good choices (and cheap):

Otherwise, if you move up to the better performance drives (most with 5 year warranties), the price increases quite a bit. Drives like the Crucial MX500, WD Blue 3D NAND, and Sandisk Ultra 3D are better drives, but they also cost about $20 more per drive.

Thanks! Definitely no need for top performance for these, just looking to squeeze another year out of them. 2021 I'll likely upgrade them all from the CPU up. ( These currently are repurposed pentium machines :x )

Avoid Phison S10/S11 drives and you should be fine.

The better drives (such as those with MLC) also theoretically endure better (better flash cell tech). OP, if your "big 2021 upgrade" is a replacement with an OEM box from a big-name-supplier, then this point is irrelevant, but I often suggest the better drives to customers if they're thinking of having a PC build by me in the future because I'll happily re-use the drive.
