I'm planning to order parts for my first computer build tonight. I would wait of nforce4 to become cheaper and more available, but I need to get this computer done before the end of my Winter break. I don't plan to overclock, at least until I upgrade to nforce4. Tell me what you think about the parts and try to criticize everything except the mouse, mousepad, and headset which I already bought. Most of the parts will be bought from newegg, except for a mobo combo from monarch. btw, I will need the modem and floppy drive, so don't tell me I won't need them.

i give your rig a 9/10. looks great.

i would look at the mushkin 3200 RAM pack, its a few bucks cheaper IIRC, and has the same quality and warranty as corsair.

also, look at getting the 3000 instead of the 3200 to save some cash. (see sig)

nice rig I like the case...

however, it's not a bad deal but there are better deals on much of it out there...

I just got the seagate 7200.8 300GB drive for $129 AR a couple days ago...140GB is 31 DVDs for me...I am buying DVD's lately and making them available on my PC...although i am now leaning toward a DVD jukebox, I still want back ups of my movies and don't quite trust dvd media yet. I have had a lot of my media ruined by people in my house (not sober ).

You won't be upset with that machine though.

The proc is like $20 cheaper on ZZF, the headset is $10 cheaper on Amazon, and I reccommend getting an eXactpad.

EDIT: YOu can get 1 gig of Dual channel Kingston HyperX at outpost for $170

This system looks very similar to what I am getting. All looks good. If you aren't overclocking much, you would be fine with the stock heatsink. Also, I've learned from previous events, always get a RETAIL CPU. It's worth it. And it's usually only $10 more.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm not buying everything from newegg, it's just an easier way to make a parts list.

I changed the RAM to Mushkin and I'm gonna stick with the 3200, the price difference isnt that much.

absolutly no reason not to spend the extra 20 bucks and get a dvd burner.

Thanks for pointing that out, I forgot to put the DVD burner in there. The NEC 3500a is now added to the list.

I bought the headset a couple months ago from Amazon already and I also already have the func mouspad. I just added those onto the list so I could have a complete list of all the parts that will go with my new computer.

I might overclock in the future so I might as well buy a nicer HSF now instead of having to replace it later. Plus I think the zalman looks a lot cooler than a stock heatsink.

The motherboard you are using does not support the NCQ feature of your HD. You need an NF4 board for that. The HD will still work but not with that feature. Will work just like a regular SATA drive.
