New system: good or bad?

I'm going to buy a new system either tomorrow or next week and these are my choices so far
(I try buy everything else cheap except the motherboard cause I'm going to gradually upgrade it depending on how much I got money ):

  • ASUS K8S-MX AMD64 754 SIS760GX MATX VGA 55,00 ? (ab. 67 USD)
    AMD SEMPRON 2600+ BOX 754, SDA2600BABOX 63,00 ? (ab. 77 USD)
    LEADTEK WINFAST GEFORCE 6200TC PCI-E 64MB 65,00 ? (ab. 78 USD)

Memory will remain the same from my old system: 2 x 512Mb Kingston DDR (going to upgrade later on as well)

The biggest problems are wheter to choose a boxed processor or non-boxed and what's the difference between these two?
Also, should I try buy a GeForce 6600 GT (about twice as expensive, irk!) or buy that one on my list and upgrade it later on?
The motherboard is a bit tricky too. Cause since I'm going to upgrade the other parts later on, will it be a good motherboard enough for that?

Usage for my new system is mostly webdesigning, certain games (not the most heaviest games but for the future there has to be PCI-E but is there a difference in this too?) and some 3D-modeling (not a pro)

That motherboard is AGP and your video card is PCI-e, that's not going to work. I would suggest getting a socket 939 motherboard.

Boxed processor (also called retail) means it comes wth a heatsink and fan and usually a longer warranty. OEM or bare CPU is just the CPU no heatsink and usually a shorter warranty. Get a boxed/Retail CPU.

Ditto on socket 939. Socket 754 is a dead end. All Asus and other major brand 939 mobos will support dual-core processors so next year when dual core is affordable you're looking at a very simple upgrade (swap CPU and you're done).

Definately get a retail CPU unless you plan to overclock.

Ok thanks guys Was already gonna buy that 754 but phew, you guys were fast

Gotta re-think about it now... so anything else would be fine thinking about the future right? Or should I actually go for ATX mobo and not mATX. Is there so many performance issues here?
