Last week I built a computer with completely new parts. The problem is that I can't get it to POST or enter the BIOS. All the fans start up normally including the CPU fan. I can also hear the HD start up as well. The specs for this system are as follows:
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
Intel Q6600
2x1GB G.Skill DDR2 800
Corsair 520HX power supply
EVGA 8800GTX
There is only one setup where I can even get any beep codes. This is when the memory isn't installed. I have tried taking the motherboard out of the case and booting it with just the motherboard, CPU, and memory. I also tried booting it with just the motherboard and memory and I still didn't get any beep codes. At first I thought it might be the memory since taking that out was the only way to get any beep codes. So, I tried some Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 in addition to some Kingston DDR2 667. Both of them yielded the same results, no beep codes when in, and a 3 long beep code when they weren't in. From what I have read, the 3 long beep code is just the standard memory error code for Award BIOS, which makes sense since there isn't any memory in when I get it. I have also tried a different power supply that I know is working and didn't get any results. At this point I am thinking that it has to be the motherboard and that I should just RMA it. Does anyone have any suggestions of other possible problems or things to try?
