New systems not turning on from cold start.

I've just built 2 new systems. They are exact duplicates of each other. Everything is working great, but...

About once a week when I go to turn the system on, it does nothing. I've found that if I switch the power off on the power supply and wait a few seconds, when I switch it back on it works fine. When the computer's running, it has no problems whatsoever. It's just that when you shut it down you never know if it will come back on without being reset.

This has happened randomly with both machines.
I've ruled out the power supply.
I am thinking it might be a motherboard issue

The motherboard is a ABIT GD8
The CPU is Pentium4 530j 3.0GHz LGA775 800FSB.
Thermaltake Silent Purepower W0014RU 480W Power Supply

Any ideas???

Latest BIOS? Sure sounds like a BIOS issue to me.

That was the first thing I checked. The board has the latest bios loaded

OK, sounds like a bad power switch on the case then. Try this, pull the front panel connector and connect a couple of wires to the pwr swtch connector on the mobo. Start the PC everytime by just quickly touching those wires. Do this long enough to determine if the switch is the problem.

Oh, you didn't mention if this is a symptom on BOTH the PC's you built?

What did you do to rule out the power supplies? Thermaltake PSU's tend to have weak 12v rails, and from the symptoms you are describing sounds like the powers supply...
