I don't understand what the problem is w/ the Win-key.. that's one of the only features (albeit minor) that I don't like about the T keyboard's layout. I prolly use that key (ctrl+Winkey = minimize all windows) 10 or 15 times a day on my pc.Originally posted by: The Linuxator

Yep, Win keys on both the T60 & X60's now. I'd say its fair to assume all forthcoming models will have those.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..........!
1- What the logo aims at pisses me off.
2- As a Linux user it's useless for me.
3- It will get in my way as I am not used to keyboards with win key, most probably I will have to program it as Ctrl, thus a waste of precious space and the keys get crammed.
5- Again the logo pisss me off, isn't it enough that I have to be forced to buy a microsoft OS I also have to see that logo after the format too, enough is enough GOD!!!
Honestly, if the key "gets in the way" then why don't we just get rid of the rest of the useless (to me anyway) keys.. "scroll/num lock", "pause/break", "insert", 1/2 the function keys, "Access IBM", "~/`", etc.. and before anyone gets their feathers ruffled, yes! I know those keys are useful to some but not most. Conversely, the "win" key is useful to many but not all. - I guess it's an example of the old adage, you can't please everyone all of the time. - But Thinkpads come reeal close
The reason why Thinkpads are not like every other laptops, is because they aren't supposed to please everyone!
Thinkpads are supposed to be aimed at businesses and professionals, who don't want something flashy that will take a crap in 2 weeks, and at the same time they don't want to look like a 12 years old when using one.
If they were made with the intention of pleasing the majority of the market, then I don't think they would have used the same black color for them that has been in use for 13 years in a row of their production.
What's next Thinkpads without Trackpoints ? Last time I checked people who like Trackpoints are a minority in the laptop market. What, Lenovo should get rid of that too ?
People don't see it , Thinkpads are about heritage, and about not going with the flow and satisfying fads whenever they arise, otherwise we would have had white glossy Thinkpads by now, and they would have been called the iPads and they would have a big orange on the back of the LCD
Thinkpads are about making a point, not letting others make the point for you.
The win key is not part of the Thinkpad ideology and it should never have been added, Thinkpads are not supposed to be like any other laptop out there, if people like me wanted to, we would have got a Dell instead of a Thinkpad, we would have saved an ass load of money and got some extra fad like features in it too for the money.
OH and BTW in FC 4 I have the scroll lock setup to lock my screen
You could always try mapping the Windows key in X server config to the Alt+??? key for GNOME's menu to pop up
I hope the 1400x1050 are not too expensive. I can't stand my T42's 1024x768 res.
