New TiVo box with instant-on technology

You know how it takes like 10 minutes to boot a TiVo? I was flipping through some old magazines and I saw an ad for this new one that turns on instantly without that slow boot time.

IDK... My two TiVos have been on for years. I guess they reboot in the middle of the night for updates, but if you want an instant on TiVo, just don't turn it off.

You definitely don't have to deal with the 3rd world power we get delivered from Virginia Power. Our power flashes all the time, amazing considering it is all underground and only 15 years old. Of course the weak part is where it comes above ground right outside our neighborhood on a sharp blind curve along a road with lots of trees.

That must rape your power bill. Leaving your tivo running is equivalent to leaving your bedroom lights on all day and night. It doesn't have a real sleep mode.

Most people never turn them off. They run 24 hours per day, consuming about 30W at all times.

Nope. I live somewhere that power is reasonably priced. My utility bill is so cheap it isn't even a topic of discussion in my household.
