New to Changing cases.

Ello Peoples. My names Brandon, and Im looking to spice up an old Gaming PC of mine. An Alienware Aurora R2.

I was looking at the 'Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case' and was wondering, if the hardware in my R2 would be able to fit in it properly?

The R2 has mATX motherboard in it, and the Nine Hundred is an ATX case. The motherboard will fit into the Antec case just fine, but the motherboard won't take up all the card slots. If you don't mind having some empty space the motherboard will fit just fine.

The power supply might be a problem though. From looking at the pictures it doesn't look like a standard ATX power supply in which case it might not fit into the Antec.

I would not recommend switching to an Antec 900, it's a several years old design now. The only thing it has going for it is cooling performance per cost, but in terms of other features it is in some cases surpassed even by cases half the price.

Is there a particular reason you're moving away from the default case? Do you have a budget, and where are you buying from?

Ill be buying from Amazon.ca, as its the only online store site I trust atm.

Just trying to fnd a new case for it, since Im actually quite bored of the default case. Plus theres no side windows, and that is something I want...

And my budget is about 140 CDN and under.Would be nice if I found a really nice case that would properly fit all the parts

Don't forget there are other ways to use the back panels that don't require actual motherboard slots.

Well, that definitely widens your horizons, there are many good cases that fit those needs for under 140 CDN.

If you're willing to keep it microATX like your current build, the only good windowed case I know is Corsair 350D. And it's a hell of a good case too. It's not available from Amazon directly, but a one seller has it. DirectCanada has it for much cheaper though.

If you want compatibility for ATX in case you upgrade the rest of your build, here are some options:
Corsair 300R Windowed ($80 at DC, $100 at Amazon.ca)
Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 ($90 at Memory Express; not available from Amazon directly, $119 from a seller)

The Arc Midi R2 would be my pick due to three 140mm fans, sleek looks and very quiet operation (a fan controller is included).

Then there's Antec 1100 and Corsair C70 but I dont think either of those is worth the additional cost.

Hey Brandon,

I would definitely recommend you take a look at NCIX and Newegg.ca. You may be able to find a better deal. NCIX particularly has sales on all the time. I have been buying from them for years.

May I ask why you're simply swapping out the case? Wouldn't it make more sense to invest that money into something else like a new video card, or SSD. Case is purely esthetic after all.
