First car purchase, I think i'm doing it right. 39,000 miles with one owner. Garage kept by an older couple. It is completely stock and unmolested. Needs some new tires soon, and probably an alignment, I was going to re-do the 30k service just to be on the safe side but that's about it.

I don't think it says STI enough
dat ass
cluster
stock turbo
stock engine bay

Great car... But owned by an older couple, is that who installed the boost gauge?

These dealers selling sports cars will tell some of you guys anything to get you to buy the car (older couple etc).. At least you didn't buy it sight unseen and ship halfway across the country.

Also... Why do these things have so many hoses in the engine bay? It reminds me of turbo cars from the early 90s.. Do you subie guys have problems with them rotting out or etc?

Well, the fact I bought it from an older couple and pulled it straight out of their garage tells me that...they were an older couple who kept it in the garage. theres still an indent on the sun visor where the garage door was kept. also, I am pretty sure the boost gauge comes stock in an STI....at least all the other ones I looked at had them. The Lamco boost gauge in there has come standard on just about every sti i've seen.

I really wonder what kind of "old couple" would buy an STi and then add a boost gauge...

regardless, sweet ride.

maybe they had a son that parked it there?

"and they were an older couple from what I understand." from your OP makes no sense, then.

...and I really don't care for how subaru installed the boost gauge.

Edited to not come across as such an asshole

They just screw the boost gauge into the steering column like that? I hate to trash your thread or car but... yeah... looks like something some kid bought at autozone and wired in for you

yes, they do.

and my brain had a fart this morning.

The stock boost gauge installed like that is the sort of thing that's let go on a Subaru, but if it were a Chevrolet, the screaming and hollering about it would never stop.

Beautiful car! I always picture these in my mind in blue. This color really pops too. I think I like this color on a sti better than the blue now.

Its always nice to find a car owned by adults as well.

Nice car. No idea why an "older couple" buys the preeminent Subaru sports sedan to begin with and further adds a boost gauge, however.

Exactly, in my mind all imprezzas are WRX/STIs, coupes, WRC blue and have those slick bbs gold rims.

You never know what salesmen push at dealerships. Old couple walks in and asks for something in silver thats good in the snow. They then get the spiel that the car has separate settings for snow etc.

boost gauge is stock. plenty of old couples by sports sedans and never drive them. hell, most of the people who own tesla roadsters are older couples who don't beat on them 24/7

got it up on the racks....everything underneath is clean as a button. exhaust bolts aren't stripped or rounded off at all and its completely unmolested. plenty of life left on the brakes, which look stock but I cant tell.

edit: only problem I have is that it has the old lady smell to it...like old ladies who wear too much perfume.

That's a good find. What mods ya got planned? At least stage 2 right?

probably nothing. its plenty fast and handles good as is. it will help re-sale value too...

edit: it was also too expensive for me to go throw mods into it and reduce reliability...id rather get a beat up miata to throw mods in.

Those and and an EVO are honestly the only thing out of Japan that I would even consider owning. Very nice ride. And how old were the owners?
