Those and and an EVO are honestly the only thing out of Japan that I would even consider owning. Very nice ride. And how old were the owners?

i'd say at least 50, I am a terrible judge of age. old enough to be graying, have a porsche, mini-van and a nice house.

The stock boost gauge installed like that is the sort of thing that's let go on a Subaru, but if it were a Chevrolet, the screaming and hollering about it would never stop.

Are there any turbocharged chevys on the market today?

Honestly if I were you I'd still do a Cobb Stage 1 tune on it and possibly get a new exhaust if you can handle the noise. It will flow better get about 30-40 more hp, and you can set your ECU to run just a tad richer than stock ensuring you won't blow up the car.

Both mods can be easily sold again and taken off. You would never know it wasn't ever not stock.

Yep, I ran a stage 1 tune for a while and it definitely woke my car up. To keep it on the quieter side, he could just swap the downpipe and go with a tune - should make a good bit more power than it would with the stock exhaust, but keeping the stock catback would keep the noise levels down.

boost gauge is stock. plenty of old couples by sports sedans and never drive them. hell, most of the people who own tesla roadsters are older couples who don't beat on them 24/7

got it up on the racks....everything underneath is clean as a button. exhaust bolts aren't stripped or rounded off at all and its completely unmolested. plenty of life left on the brakes, which look stock but I cant tell.

edit: only problem I have is that it has the old lady smell to it...like old ladies who wear too much perfume.
gawd old people can really smell Better than cig smoke, though or vomit I guess

You sure they didn't have any kids? Just a thought.

But, if everything works out, congrats.

Very nice car, I've owned a 2007 black STI from new. Of course I've also "ruined" it. 2004 tail lights, wingless trunk, limited front lip, and a lot of engine / turbo work.

Their kids are older than I am, and have kids my age. It was their car...why do people think old folks can't by and own sports cars?

You know how some cars you can only imagine in 1 color. Like Ferrari would always come in Red, Mercedes would always come in Black, and Subaru WRX would always come in Blue. A Silver STi just looks weird to me.

Not that it really matters, but this sure seems like it may have been a grandchild's car that was kept in their name for insurance purposes.

But - if it's fine, who cares?

What exactly do you mean by "on the market"?

Already noted, plus the turbo diesel trucks, besides it's a 2006 Subaru anyway...

You can still get this engine if you buy a Fisker Karma, apparently...

To fool people like you, of course. And it seems like it worked, doesn't it?

-__-, old people aren't that clever. It is clearly their car, all the paperwork and service work has their name on it. They aren't trying to fuck me over. If some teenage/early 20s fuck up was driving it around it would be beat to shit, and it isn't. Hell, if it was used as a DD it would have more mileage on it.

Do you seriously think old people aren't entitled to have nice cars?

Don't count me as a person that has the whole situation figured out by a few posts in the interweb.
Congrats on the buy. Great cars.
I almost bought one. Didn't do enough research on those and time wasn't on my side.
Sigh.
Still thinking about that blue WRX wagon in that showroom that kept taunting me.

Wow. This thread has taken a weird turn.

Congrats on the car, Hybrid. If you're worried about reliability/resale post mods, then leave it stock. Although I do think (like others have mentioned) that a Cobb Stage 1 tune is a pretty safe mod that'll free up a few more horses. And you can always switch back to stock right before you sell it.

"and they were an older couple from what I understand." from your OP makes no sense, then.

...and I really don't care for how subaru installed the boost gauge.

Edited to not come across as such an asshole

Too late. Stop trying to shit all over this guys good vibe. You're rapidly losing any respect I may have had for you as a poster here.

Squirrel that's a nice Scooby. Don't listen to SA. You drive the wheels off that fucker.
