Greetings,

I've searched for the answer but I can't seem to find it. Is there a way to order topics/threads displayed by chronological creation date, as opposed to chronological modification date?

Thank you!

Anandtech Forums Thread Sorter

The fact that a 3rd party solution is needed to have this functionality is ridiculous.

The link to the thread sorter is not working for me!

Has the 3rd party thread sorter been moved or closed?

Did Anandtech ever fix this issue? Can I sort by newest thread somehow, now?

Please help!

it used to be a feature before the latest revision of fusetalk. however in their infinate wisdom they didn't feel like having to translate whatever is needed to put it into the newest version (multiple languages) and felt it wasn't really used. after a great outcry over it to prove that in fact it was used, jason locked our threads and told us it was in fact not used regardless of what we said, and then mumbled something about us being thankless peons and set jrun upon us to hunt us down like dogs.

errr, well he said something about adding it later if he got around to it.

None of the thread sorter links are working for me. I understand that they were having a problem finding hosting and moving from month to month. Are they gone for good? I can't find them. It was the only saving grace for AnandTech for me. A year ago I would visit daily until the change. These forums are not worth the time wading through tons of threads to find something that is current. I suppose I will return from time to time just see if any functionality has added or to see if I can find a working link to the thread sorter. Unless that happens it just isn't worth it. I am not a software engineer however; I keep hearing from the powers that be that bringing back this function is soooo very difficult but I have to wonder how a or a group of hobbiest can create a thread sorter that worked pretty darn well without any capitol and the for profit AnandTech can not.
Sounds fishy to me. I don't beleive it is that difficult. Why don't you get ahold of the folks that already have done it and add it to the forums if you cannot figure it out for yourselves?? Maybe just provide them with hosting. You see it would be easy to handle this problem. Not sooooo difficult as you want to lead us to beleive. So what are your true motives ?

jason, i got this one.

this is not a feature people want to see so fusetalk will not be adding it in any future versions. please stop asking.

Seeing as the Hot Deals and FS/FT forums are really provided as a service to the community and Anand has to *pay* Jason to resolve these issues, I can honestly understand why they are so reluctant to do so.

If you're searching for an item in FS/FT, it will sort the original threads by date anyways.

I sorted by New Topics not only in FS and HotDeals but in all topics, including Networking, Software, etc. I really got tired of wading through all the "me, too " bumps even in those threads. Ultimately, Anand is the customer who buys FuseTalk from Jason's company, so I guess if it's good enough for Anand, we're stuck with it.

Don't want to quote Odarby's whole post, but it is hard to disagree with like *anything* he said. The lack of sorting options makes HD and FS totally useless. It is less important in a slow-moving forum like Forum Issues, but with so many posts in HD and FS...

If I don't have a need/budget for a $750 Dell laptop (however alluring the deal might be), I don't want to see it on the top 200 times over every time somebody replies to it. If I did, I could add it to my favorites/subscribe to it/reply to it and access it from the "My Forums" page.

How do others, especially the regulars, deal with the lack of this feature in HD and FS?
