Though in possession of full details, our lives wouldn't be worth living if we divulged what we know, but let's just say that the new PC-only game eschews the gunpowder weaponry of recent Total War titles and gets back to basics.

Source = Ve3d

OMG ME SO EXCITED! *SQUEAL* Back to the basics may be a hint of Shogun 2 Total War, or possibly an overall Oriental setting, like China: TW.

Rumor is that we find out June 15th!

Thank god, pre-gunpowder!

They'd better polish the game this time around though. Still can't really play Empire.

yea, that's the only thing sort of twanging in my heart because as pretty as the game looks, it doesn't always play as it should.

Still, it's a start.

I'd like Shogun II: TW, but I really want Rome II: TW instead. In any case, it will certainly be better than either Empire or Napoleon (personal opinion, I just don't like the time period much).

I'd prefer Rome or something in the European classical era. However an Asian classical game is good as well.

I'd loveeeee a Shogun II: TW!

Omg remember the days spent playing that game, fearless warrior monks charging up an almost verticle mountain to certain doom

Fabulous! Empire just isn't pulling me in as much as I try. Rome was amazing, Medieval 2 was my all time favorite, never played Shogun so anything like those 3 would rock.

That could be neat.

Here's the tweet from CA mentioned in the article:
"Just to confirm, we are still working on Total War and aren't planning to get sporty!"

No, it wouldn't. Age of Mythology was the weakest of the AoE games.

I liked Empire. (well, once it worked.) Loved Rome too. Can't wait to see what they come up with.

Well, they're using the same engine as Empire, which graphically speaking, is more than fine with me. Empire looks absolutely fantastic, and I understand Napoleon actually looks better as well.

I just hope that because they're using the same engine, they can iron out the glitches, bugs, and AI retardation.
Considering that Med2 was broken because the Aussie studio was different than the one in the UK, the fact that this is all a UK job is encouraging.

I have never been able to get into these games. I always try but the control just seems too clunky or something, I can't quite put my finger on it.

Maybe they've already done this but they need to do some kind of medieval total war. Storming a castle would be awesome, complete with trebuchet's, catapults, diggers (to collapse the castle walls), etc.

A bit off topic but, I just recently started playing Rome Total War (haven't played any others) and I'm finding the lack of information a bit annoying. The temples is my biggest peeve though there's others. So you can pick between them, but other then their city benefits there's no info on what they do. I'm almost inclined to think I should be rotating generals through different cities to try to pick up benefits of each temple, but I'm not sure if it'd work that way : ( WTB Civiopedia (waropedia?) Maybe I should read the manual or something, but I doubt that'd help.

There is a countdown that a forum member calculates should either stop at 234 BC or 336 BC

234 is the first Roman Colony established, 336 is the death of Philip II and ascension of Alexander the Great--so it's more likely it'll be a post-Classical game about the Macedonian-Greek expansion OR Rome 2 Total War with the calender extended further back.

Hmmm with that information I will change it to;

Alexander: Total War

Have a historical campaign that followes Alexander the Great's conquests of Egypt, Persia and the Indian sub-continent. And then have the standard game play where you can choose one of some select Greek City-States, Egypt, Persia, and maybe the early Romans (or have them as a outside threat like the Mongols in Medieval II) and the Celts (if you want a map that big)
