Out with the OLD. In with the NEW.

Picked up the CBR600RR yesterday for a pretty good price. Had 2200 miles on it and now has 2600, 400 miles within 48 hours

I need to work on keeping my weight off my wrists. Maybe some traction pads for the tank would be a good idea. The seat is just awful, my ass is sore as hell but I don't care The bike is amazing, I LOVE it. Another thing I'm still getting used to is the feeling that I'm sitting ON the bike rather than IN it. The Kawi felt a little better in that regard due to it being a little longer (I think) and the rider position was a little less perched up. It came down to the 07-08 CBR600RR or the 05-08 ZX6R. The CBR ended up being the better deal for a newer bike, so I went with it.

Only thing on my shopping list right now is a rear stand and some swingarm spools so I can change the oil and clean the chain.

Whoa what a change in bike styles, you got yourself a crazy rocket there Did you keep your Suzuki? I like some of their bikes, especially the M109R, what a beast.

As much as I would love to keep the M50 for trips or comfy cruises I need to sell it. Hopefully within a couple years I can afford to have two bikes. And yes, the 109R is way cool!

Nice, I love the undertail exhaust on the RRS. Also they're supposed to be the most nimble of the 600s

I wanted a sport bike, but the wifey would hear nothing of it. Congrats on the new ride.

My only complaint about the 600cc bikes is the lack of torque. It's really noticable going from my 1100 V-star to my brother's 600 Kawi. His bike is a heck of alot faster than mine, but I love the snap of my bike off of the line.

Anyway, nice ride. Keep the rubber side down.

Typically true but the 600RR has lots of midrange (best of the 600's I'd say). You may have more felt "snap" off the line but a 600cc supersport is going to beat an 1100 V-star off the line EVERY time.

Congrats on the purchase, although don't even begin to think that the bike you bought will ever be "comfy," you're doomed to a life of sore buns!

Grip the tank as much as you can with your knees and work on supporting your weight with your abs/back, not by holding yourself up on the bars. It's tough to get used to but you'll be thankful in the long run.

The stronger your core muscles are the less sore you're going to be riding it. And over time it'll lessen as well.

The midrange is good. I don't have much sportbike experience at all but it really pulls from 6K RPM and up.
I need to work on making my shift from 1st to 2nd a little more smooth, its a pretty long throw and is usually pretty abrupt.

1st to 2nd is always the roughest no matter what you drive/ride, but it'll get smoother with practice. If you feel so inclined/ready you need to do a track day, you'll learn SO much in a few short hours.

try this when you make the 1st to 2nd shift...........

when you lift the shifter to go into 2nd gear, keep the upward pressure on the lever until after you release the clutch. this will almost always keep you from missing the shift.

no, it will not hurt the transmission or anything else.

I think I've only missed the shift once. My problem was making a smooth shift but I've gotten better at making the rev's match which helped a lot.
