New TV Can't select native resolution

AMD R9 380 latest (non-beta) drivers
Samsung KU6290 TV connected via HDMI

TV shows up in windows as Generic PNP monitor, Samsung doesn't offer any drivers.
TV was defaulting to 1920x1080 @ 24HZ

I made a custom resolution in AMD Radeon Settings of 1920x1080 @ 60HZ but nothing changed.
I successfully changed refresh rate to 60 HZ in the adapter settings in device manager but it does not offer resolutions above 1920x1080. Tried making custom Radeon resolution of 3840x2160 but it says this is not supported. Other TV owners verify it runs 4K/60/4:4:4 via HDMI but they all seem to be using NVIDIA.

I feel like this is some combination of AMD and Samsung both failing to provide support. The Samsung manual lists supported resolutions of 4K/60 but the frequencies it lists don't correspond to the settings available in AMD custom settings. It shouldn't be this difficult. Any ideas?

Have you tried a different HDMI cable? I've seen weird stuff like this happen with a bum cable.

The R9 380 only lists HDMI 1.4a support which will limit you to 24hz at 4k. Use a high speed cable as well as its needed for 4k.

Yep, thanks for the replies, that is apparently the issue. Theoretically a displayport to hdmi 2.0 cable/converter should be able to do the job? Hoping. Thanks!

I think that there's more to this, since I can drive a 4K30 / 4:4:4 with a 7950 3GB HIS card, via the native HDMI output on the card, in Win10 1607 64-bit, using any recent drivers.

Just to close the loop on this: got a Displayport to HDMI cable but it is the same as HDMI - I can do 4k/30Hz or 1080/60Hz, but not 4k/60. The card can do it and the TV can display it but the use of HDMI 1.4 by the card and lack of displayport on the TV appears to be the limiting factors. Lesson learned, read all the specs closely before you buy. Thanks for the replies.
