Well Burpo, I gave it one more push into the breach for ya. I was needing to flush out/test the new pedestal portion of my loop for the 5960X/980Ti's, so I figured what better way than to rig up a quick ghetto setup and give the old Xeon one last ride into the sunset. Dug around and found my old 1366 block and an old reservoir, it wasn't pretty but it worked. I wasn't able to pull off the mythical 5.0, but I did raise the bar a tad. I was a bit hamstrung by the fact I had cleared and/or forgotten my old settings as a good starting point but I muddled through.

Just saw this YBS1, and wanted to thank you for your efforts. After my brief encounters with the higher binned Westmere EP Xeons, I came to realize air cooling just won't do. To me Cinebench is the best real world test of a CPU, and I'm pretty sure your record will stand for a very long time. Pushing the old X58 chipset to extremes has been fun and educational, but to see Crashtest take an i5 to the 9's speaks volumes of intel's uarch improvements over the past 5 yrs. The moar cores adage is now giving way to modern CPU improvements, and Skylake E will probably entice me to finally give up my X58 space heater render rig. Getting the job done with lass than half the cores & half the power draw is definitely the "cooler" way to go Until then, I've got another Blu-Ray iso to bust out today, so it's back to work for the old X58..
I'll take that X5670 of yours at going rate when ever you're ready Time to sell the BloodRage too.. Prices are falling.

this thing is pretty sad for a 15.6" 2014 laptop
at least it's always cool and quiet

real clock seems to be locked at 2.4GHz (max turbo) while running it.

There is a good way in CPU-Z 1.73 to show what the CPU should be running the test at, just click on the "Bench" tab and click the "Stress CPU" button, then click back over to the CPU tab and take the screenshot.

basically everything I tested ran at 2.40GHz when I checked, including the CPUz bench, st or mt, also on CB15 I did both ST and MT and the scaling was similar to my Core 2 Duo results, but I can't say fore sure because I was not checking during the entire cinebench run (it takes forever lol), so just having the screenshot at max turbo wouldn't prove anything, but I think t it was 2.40GHz all the time.

I guess it should run at max turbo, it's a big laptop with active cooling, and the CPU TDP is generous compared to quad core bay trails with the same...

The point, for me anyway, is to have a screenshot that gives some legitimacy to the score. I would expect the screenshot to be an accurate representation because there is little point in "cheating." Once the screen is posted, it's up to other forum members to point out possible inaccuracies. I just need everyone on record with their screenshots.

this one is pretty good for a low cost laptop, from the outside the laptop looks exactly the same as the Bay Trail Celeron I posted earlier, but it's actually nice to use.
