New video card, BIOS splash screen comes up corrupted should I be worried?

I decided to buy a Sapphire 290X a couple days ago when I saw it on sale, it's not a huge upgrade from the gtx 780 but it's given me a very nice boost in the games I've tried it out on so I'm pretty happy with it so far. The only problem I've had so far is that the splash screen when I boot the BIOS comes up extremely corrupted, basically a bunch of colored squares. Outside of that I haven't had any problems but I haven't had a chance to game on it a lot, I just played witcher 2 and 3 for a little while last night and it was totally fine there.

Should I be worried about the splash screen not coming up correctly? The only reason I'm a little concerned is a few people who left reviews for this card had it die after a few weeks of use so I'm worried that this might be a sign that my card is already dying. I would think I would see more problems in games if the card was going bad though and that hasn't happened yet so maybe it's not a big deal.

I'll have to check tonight, I don't really care if the splash screen shows up correctly (ill probably just disable it) but I'm hoping it's not indicative of a different problem. My MB is pretty old now (like 8 years?) so I'm not even sure when the last time gigabyte updated the BIOS was.

I posted about this the other day with a new MSI 290 I got last week. I havent had the chance to finish testing yet but so far it seems like it is an issue with my 2011 mobo (AMD gigabyte 970 chipset).

Does your card have a hybrid/dual bios switch on it? My 290 would only run one fan when in hybrid mode, both fans ran in legacy mode. The card still had some weird issues with fan speeds though and the corrupted bios screen happened in either bios mode.

That said, so far the card is working fine in my 2500k system which already had a MSI 290 in it. That mobo has a UEFI bios, the 970 board does not.

Yeah mine has a switch, but it is either UEFI/legacy BIOS. It won't boot at all in UEFI mode and I get the corrupted splash screen in the legacy mode. I'm thinking it just may be the dual boot system is causing some incompatibility but I'll probably play around with it a bit more tonight and see if I have any problems. As for the fans, I did check to see if all 3 were running, I'll have to check that out and see if there are any problems there.

What are you running the graphics cards through to your monitor? I've had two AMD cards (7850 & 290) display messed up BIOS screens when running HDMI through an amplifier to an HDTV. Both cards were fine once in windows and the drivers had loaded and had no problems in games.

Upgrade your bios. I had the same issue with a Tri-X 290. Upgrading the bios to the newest efi version fixed everything.

I'm running a DVI cable. Vid card bios update is a good idea. I suppose a mobo bios update might be worth it as a last resort but the only one for my board is a beta bios.

I had that problem when I upgraded before, tried a new dvi cable and it worked then... Old card was fine with the older dvi cable... Must have been a tiny bit damaged...
