New Video Card Issues

So i just replaced my geforece 4 ti 4200, with an apollo geforece 6800 (agp) Now, when I switch on the power, all I can hear is a very loud whining/constant beep. Any idea what is up with this?

Edit- Ok, I just looked at my card, and it apears as though its not getting enough power because the fan on the card is struggling to start up. My power supply is currently set to 115v, but there is an option to go to 230v. Im not the most knowledgeable person about computers, but would it be safe to change this?

Constant beep would be an error code from your motherboard/system. What motherboard do you have (if you have a name brand computer, like Dell, HP, Compac, what model and brand is the system?)

You basicallt need to lookup what the beep code is for your particular motherboad/system. It will be in the "troubleshooting" section of the instruction booklet or on the manufactuer's website in the "product installation guide" or something similar. Dell has a webpage for each make/model with all the beep codes and what they mean.

You probably knocked something loose when you took apart the system. The beep code would tell you what to start with. Otherwise, open it up and reseat the video card, check that the ram is firmly in place, check all power cables, etc...

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8ST667 model. I checked the website and manual about the beep codes. couldnt find anything. But from what I can tell, its not getting enough power. My power supply is currently set to 115 volts. If I were to switch it to 230V, would that work? or would i burn out a bunch of stuff...

Do not set your PSU to 230v. That setting is for other countries that use said standard. I think I found a problem. Your MB only supports AGP 4X and the GPU you just bought is a AGP 8X card. ;(

i thought so too, wont they just slow to 4X, i think i agree about psu
