New video card recommendation

I recently built a new computer with new parts except for the video card. Would you recommend getting a new video card (e.g., aftermarket 290?) or wait until 14nm next year?

I mostly play non-demanding games (Heroes of the Storm) and older games (Batman Arkham Asylum/City). I usually wait for newer games to go on sale (low low price) on Steam and buy them.

I do, however, plan on playing Star Wars: Battlefront that is coming out later this year.

This is my current setup:
CPU: Intel 4790k
Motherboard: Asrock Z97 Extreme 6
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866
Video: AMD Radeon 5850
SSD: Crucial MX100 512GB
PSU: SeaSonic X-1250 (SS-1250XM2)
Case: Antec P180
Monitor: it's an old Dell 27" IPS (bought back in 2007)


Budget is not an issue. I'm more worried about value/performance. I see several options:
1. Get Fury (Fury X if the price drops; Fury X doesn't seem to be better value/performance than 980Ti or 980Ti Hybrid at its current price). I decided not to get 980Ti/Hybrid since I generally don't get the best video card in its generation.
2. Get R290 (or 290X depending on the price). This option should last me another 3-4 years, hopefully?
3. Wait until 14nm video cards next year.

My one concern with getting R290 is that it may not fit in my P180 case. If so, I may have to get Fractal Design Define R5 case instead.

Any comment is greatly appreciated.

Wait until Fury (no X) drops if your budget is in the 500-600 range.

Otherwise go with an aftermarket 290 now to hold you over till 14nm. For $250 I think its a good deal as a holdover card.

What resolution do you play? If it's 1080 I'd just get the 290 now.

Nobody knows when 14nm will hit, could be late '16 or even pushed into '17.
Those cards will also be really expensive as well.

So, yeah, if you can find a used 290 or whatever, that should be good enough for the current crop of games, and pretty much all games in '16/'17.
