Trust me when I say I went back and forth for almost the entire day about the stack or no stack. Still not sure to be honest.

Like I said I think we will give the stacking a shot and if it becomes unbearable then a pedestal I will be building.

We do laundry virtually everyday (family of 4 with 2 kids and myself pretty heavy into sports (soccer)) so lots of washing going on. The bending over with them being stacked may end up being too much, who knows.

Do you really put washers on pedestals just so that you don't have to bend to take the stuff out?

Yes it raises them up off the floor and makes it easier to load and unload (no bending over).

I've got 3 kids. We're not talking about doing laundry once a week here. It's almost a daily chore.

Depends on where you are placing them and what brand. My laundry room is on the 2nd floor and Whirlpool nearly shook my house down. I exchanged them thinking they were defective and same result. I finally swapped them out for a Samsung front loading pair and have had little to no vibration (because of the VRT - Vibration Reduction Technology - i.e. inner and outer drum with ball bearings between to balance the high spinning load).

First, I know this is an old thread, and I apologize if I am breaking any rules, but it seems I don't yet have the permission to PM Engineer directly to inquire more of his post.

Engineer, are you still using the Samsung washer? We had to replace our Whirlpool front-loading washer and chose to go with another Whirlpool, but the new one is vibrating much more than the old one, and also going into unbalanced loads more often. The washer going into high spin with unbalanced loads is the primary cause behind vibration. I now see that the old one had a max speed of 1000 RPM vs 1160 RPM for the new one. The addition of higher speed on unbalanced loads will increase vibration of the washer.

We are thinking of replacing the Whirlpool with Samsung having VRT. The Samsung we are looking at has a max spin speed of 1200 RPM, but supposedly, the VRT Plus feature will reduce the vibration and prevent the washer from going into spin with unbalanced loads.

How is your Samsung working out? Just how much vibration are you seeing with the washer? Can you touch the top and feel any? Does the washer go into high spin with unbalanced loads? Thanks in advance.

And sorry for everyone else having to read a five year old thread.

Stacked ONLY exist because some people need to save space. Think condos or 2 bedroom homes.

Stacked cost more, and do smaller loads. The design isn't a mistake. They are targetting a specific audience that is the minority of customers.

You CAN stack most "regular" front load sets. I have 5.0 cu/ft Samsung front loader and they offer a stacking kit for that.
WOULD I stack them? Fuck no.
COULD I? Yep.
Fortunately, the laundry room in our new (to us) house has way more room than we need for the washer/dryer set.

Err we are not talking about one unit stacked washer and dryer. These are separate units that have coupling hardware kit. Lots of people stack their full size washer and dryers.

Yeh, it's all about space with stackables.

I had stackable units once in my life, when I was in grad school They were in a closet right next to my upstairs bedroom. Talk about convenient.

edit - oops wait. I should have read more carefully. Never mind.
