lol.. you could buy 10 seiko's for that price!
or 2800 timex watches in chinatown!
And the ironic thing is that the timex is more accurate than your $2800 watch.

Nice watch. Lange makes my favorite watches, followed by perhaps Panerai and Rolex. My watch is a Rolex Explorer. I love it for its vintage quality, subtlety, etc.

Nice watch. My boss has a vintage, gilt-dial Explorer 1016 - it's a beautiful watch. I think to some extent my Sinn 656 is a spiritual successor to the Explorer, though it's a little less subtle.

Since its not your newborn baby, I feel free to say that is a damn ugly watch. Did it come with horned rimmed glasses and a pocket protector as well? I'm surprised a clunky watch like that sports a sleek name like 'carrera'. I'm assuming its in reference to what it has 'under the hood' because it's certainly not based on the physical dimensions. Maybe people find that classy or sophisticated, but it looks to me that it's appeal is that it comes with a keg of beer and a zippo lighter.
Seriously, whether its 10k or $20 from the ny street corners, its all the same...ugly knows no price but it knows this watch.

Jeez, I can't see being SO negative. It essentially looks like your average sporty black-faced chronograph - to me it's attractive, and I can't imagine anyone thinking it's very ugly. What watches do you find attractive?

Clearly it is worth that much. Why? It tells time a fraction of a second more accurately than the cell phone he always has on him.Originally posted by: JEDI
um.. what makes a watch worth $2.8k?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Actually I'm quite sure it's measurably less accurate than a cell phone (no mechanical watch is as accurate as quartz, plus cell phones are autoupdated against the atomic clock frequently). Still nice, though!

Tight.
If you don't mind me asking, what's the damage?
well... i ended up getting it at tourneau.
i had two options pony up the cash up front and recieve a three hundred dollar discount from mrsp...
or have 12 months intrest free fianance and pay mrsp.
i chose mrsp which is $2495.
then they added a 129 watch protection plan which they will cover my watch for three years and refurbish band/casing if it gets scratched if not they will replace band/casing also covers scratches to face... very nice plan for 130 bucks more...
then tax...
grand total $2755.33
i have the cash... but three hundred dollars isnt worth taking a major dent into my savings...
especially after i just bought my new cellphone and car...
