Think there are prerequisites for them. I think we are going to end up having to pay to be able to do some of the higher end stuff. As a free account you can only do up to certain stuff and we only get temporary access to the upgraded features for like 5 days. See Here

I believe when you are able to finally build ships, it will be under defense.

In a moment of weakness after talking to HomeBrewerDude, I signed up for an account, but then sanity took hold again and I deleted the account.

I need a game where there's a limit to how much time you can put into it in a day rather than rewarding people (like me) who would spend hours and hours on end.

In ogame, it was immense amounts of time spent scanning that was the time sink. It was actually just about the same thing with Ikariam. Judging off what little I've seen from this, it seems like scanning for targets is yet again another time sink in this game.

HBD told me a bit about it and some of the annoyances with the server performance. I might check it out, but it seems kind of pointless (even more so than this sort of game )
