Love the price vs hours arguement.

I hate it. I wish people would stop assigning value to video games based on their length rather than their quality. I've played 10-hour-long games that are far more interesting and engaging than any 100-hour game I've played.

I was being sarcastic.

Are the levels maze-like with some exploration or are they more linear with set piece battles?

Oh.

Overall, the levels seem to err more on the side of linear. There's a fair amount of branching paths and exploration though. Certainly not "maze-like", but you rarely feel like you're fighting through corridors either, if that's what you're concerned about. Some of the areas are quite large.

I don't mind it. As much as I agree that quality's a big issue, there are just too many games that are good with more content that Wolfenstein. The campaign might be longer and better than that of Black Ops II, but it isn't better to the extent that I'd trade those extra couple of hours and quality for the 2 years of enjoyment I got out of CoD. Beyond just quantity vs. quality, there's also the mixing...the VALUE of the game.

Wolfenstein might be really good and all, but there's just no way that I'd spend $60 on it when it's going to probably be $40 in 2 months. If games held their value for longer periods of time, it might be a different story. I'm in no rush to play it, so I can wait.

More Half Life or more Bioshock infinity?

It's just like Tomb Raider, except with Nazis.

Surely it can't be as linear as Tomb Raider? I hated the crap outta that game every 10min a fucking cut scene or QTE, Wolfenstein can't possibly be like this??

Any deals floating around? $60 for single player only game with no replayability seems kinda steep, but looking at some of the gameplay videos it does look fun.

No qte, well maybe one in the being but that's about it. It's pretty linear though you have multiple ways to go through an area.

I don't mind it's not meant to be an open world game, it's an fps at heart. Oh and I loved tomb raider.

Tell me you played tomb raider all the way through? The qte's happened a lot at the start but it soon became one of the best games I played last year.

This is rather next gen. Clocked with Afterburner, 4.3GB RAM in use (out of 16GB) and my 780 Ti GHz was nearly capped at 2.9GB vRAM usage everything maxed out. Liquid 60FPS though @ 1920 x 1200. As for the i7, Id Tech 5 doesn't appear to hammer my 4770 although it does seem to use it.

While it's generally fine I've been getting some weird texture "flashing". Very noticible albeit only for a split second. When I was playing earlier in the week, I couldn't take screen shots. All came back black.

Yeah, I get black screen shots also :| The cut scenes are mostly really well done . They do a very good narrative of building NPC's characters. I really like the classic Quake style combat and movement. I've had at least a dozen crashes, memory leaks mostly.

I haven't had one crash. though my machine did get hot and i had to take it out of the desk.

it runs great on my I7 machine with only 8 gigs of ram.

the game is pretty darn good. couple good sex scenes, good gore etc. and the ability to play the original wolfeinstien level is neat

I think there might be too many cutscenes. It wasn't too bad cutscene wise until I got out of the hospital, but from there to the prison has been like a movie. Hopefully it'll stop. Also, the game seems kinda easy. I am playing on Uber mode, using just the silenced pistol and knives, and the only time I die was when I tried to make a jump before the game wanted me to.

Also, anyone able to play with VT Cache Size set to Ultra? I tried it and the game was a slide show, but on high I get 60fps. The engine is kinda strange...can't capture with Shadowplay unless you use desktop mode. If DXtory is running, the game will crash.

But the game is fun. Its refreshing to be able to move around like you could in the Quake days. Its too bad there is no multiplayer for this. I wouldn't mind playing TDM or Domination with this pacing.

/agree on too many cut scenes... well..except for the one on the train...

My biggest complaint thus far - I can't interact with a lot of items in the world I want to open drawers, turn off/on lamps, pick [more] locks, pick up books/items and throw them across the room.

And the AI/Pathing seems to be wonky/broken. If a mob clearly sees me - all I have to do is run far away to break the AI. The mob will either stay in one spot or slowly walk towards where they last saw you [which makes them easy to kill].

just finished it. not a bad ending.

I didn't mind the cut scenes. it wasn't that bad and they kept the story going.

i do agree with coloumb in that i wanted to interact more with the area. but you can't .

I finished it today as well. I thought it was a really solid and memorable single player shooter. I ended up getting 13.7 hours out of it with a moderate amount of exploration.

One thing bothered me --
Why the hell didn't we get to kill Frau Engel?! I was totally looking forward to it and it never happened.
