X-Fi Console Launcher CSL_PCAPP_LB_2_60_27.exe.

X-Fi Drivers SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0004.exe

Audigy Drivers @ Guru3D from Creative FTP

These drivers re-enable DD/DTS decoding in Vista and also include various bug fixes. They also brought back the Volume icon/launcher in the notification area/system tray. They were supposed to include DD Live/DTS Connect support in this driver and although there is brief mention of DD Live in the patch notes I didn't find an option to enable it when I scanned over the console/HQ last night.

I like how they waited this long to release these after they banned a forum user for creating and sharing his own drivers that worked like a charm almost a year ago.

I like how internet users post old news..

He was not banned from forum, creative even allowed him to have the drivers put back up. Welcome to 6 months ago.

This driver actually removed the hissing and popping that I was hearing in CS:S...may just be because of a new driver install though, we'll see.

The thing I like about this driver package is that it actually removes your old drivers first (so you don't have to do it manually). It's an extra step in the process but a nice touch.

Not to rehash the entire Daniel_K saga, but I think it was in both Creative and his best interests to move on. Whatever started off as an intent to help others clearly changed as he started asking for donations for his work, even when he wasn't actually creating anything. All he was doing was re-enabling features and recompiling Creative's drivers without their permission. By the end it was clear he was just going to be a nuisance and a thorn in Creative's side, raving childishly on their forums so they told him to beat it. Good riddance, his driver releases never impressed me.

Also fixed crackling and hissing in various windows sounds for me. And the old crackling music while you're scrolling bug.

The new Audio Console Launcher is leaps and bounds better than the clunky ugly thing they had. The new one is amazing, and allows you to change modes by just right clicking the icon in your system tray.

Also, the install was problem free.

My X-fi is performing at the basic level expected based on what's been advertised and written on the package. I'd say this is the best Creative has ever done.

In that case, I might switch back to my X-FI. This Xonar D2 has been great for movies and music, but gaming has been a real disappointment. And to top it off, Asus has taken even longer than Creative to update their drivers. It's taken nearly 6 months in between beta drivers.
