Well, retailers are hush hush about it because someone may actually not know about this and go buy an X-Box today at the regular price and they still make the full amount.

just found out there is one across town. i may have to go over tehre saturday and hope they have some yet.

They dont actually have the excuteable since they use the xb sdk, but you can find them at your usual places.

The media center is the newer one and supports hidef resolutions, 720p, 1080i. Since its so new its also kinda buggy and finicky to setup.

Most impressive is the ability to play almost any divx/video format around, over the network.
You'd be hard pressed to see the difference on good divx vs the dvd originals.

If you have a hdtv you absolutely must have one of these to play with. Even for reg tv, the divx playing ability is awesome.

I dont know what the latest is on the modding scene. fwiw i built mine using the cheapmod specs, but those dont work in the new ones anymo, 1.3 and above.

just talked to someone at the store, and they offered the info about the rebate, I would say it is a good deal. Going to go pick one up and will let you all know for sure when I have a rebate form in my sticky fingers.

There are a number of people over @ FW that have already done this deal. Many of the stores don't have the rebate form yet, but can print it from a computer there in the store.

The rebate looks like a photocopy, handed me one at checkout.
Seems pretty straightforward, orig barcode and reciept. 10-12wks delivery. post mark by 5/28
reciept date from 3/30 - 4/28

It's not the holiday bundle, and doesn't even come with a S controller. This is the basic Xbox package.


Make sure when you by this that they give you the correct SKU. The first store I went to didn't have the right ones in and was going to discount one of the $179 ones to $119 until he called their other store in the same mall to chek their inventory. They had one.

Don't be confused. This is the regular extra package. It does come with one S controller. Not sure what you got, but if you didn't get a controller, you got ripped. One of the $179 ones? Well, they were all once $179 before today.

Again, no one listen to what he said about the controller.

I think the $119 deal is better because the games in the pack can be picked up very cheap seperately.
