Watching the news after the Yankee game and heard that today NY banned bath salts. WTF? What's the problem with having a nice bath??

New York State health officials have banned the sale of bath salts containing dangerous amphetamine-type substances that has sent scores of substance abusers to hospitals nationwide.

Have you ever heard of "bath salts"?

There is a gas station right down the road from me that sold K2, Spice, etc. Once that was outlawed the moved to bath salts. $45/gram.

I'm not one for stimulants, so it's not something I'll ever try. I know the owner pretty well, he says he can hardly keep it in stock. He has one regular customer that he claims comes in nearly every day and buys 2-3 grams worth. I guess he just likes relaxing baths.

There was a 60-minutes (or some primetime news show) that talked about this stuff...I hadn't even heard about it til then. Illegal in a few states and a lot are working on passing such legislation.

I have a friend(more of an ex-friend) that got heavy into these, ended up spending all his money, skipping work if he didn't have them and getting fired.

It's basically like synthetic coke. They're called bath salts, but they're not used in bathing at all. Some of that crap goes for $80-$100 for a tiny container.

The bath salts are really screwy. I've talked to a couple of coke-heads and Drs at the local hospital. It's basically the same high you get from cocaine/meth depending on the salt. The Hospital is having problems with it because it doesn't show up on a normal blood test and it presents all sorts of screwy ways. Massive respiratory problems and cardiac issues that they can't always find a solution to. They have had people found in the snow in the winter that were sweating uncontrollably because their body was so screwed up from the salts. Just dangerous shit.

It's not REAL bath salts. People aren't walking into bed bath and beyond to get their fix. It's just a street name for a new chemical high that was legal, and now isn't.

Anyways, I have tried Spice XXX and it was marketed as "potpourri". I was randomly drug tested at a previous job and I thought I would give this a shot. Spice tasted like shit, and made me feel like shit, nothing like the real MJ.

IMO, the "fake" alternatives to drugs are far more dangerous than their real counterparts. Thanks to the War on Drugs®, companies have come up with these wretched products that go untested...

you probably smoked the shitty 'post ban' stuff. the 'labs' (some guy's basement) making this stuff keep switching to less and less effective research chemicals, as the govt also fights the war on 'legal' drugs. also, the gas station stuff is basically made of yard clippings, while the initial stuff was often made by people that were a bit more selective with their herbs.

yup, we have two failing wars on drugs.
