I live in America's finest city. San Diego.
Edit-I'm formerly from New York.
my brother lives in San Diego. he wants to get back to NY in the worst way.
and i have been there 4 times. i still think NYC>SanDiego
So, I've lived in both places and you've lived in neither. How are you more qualified to make statements like this again?
Don't get me wrong, I like NY to visit but I'll never go back there to live.
On the same vein, living in NYC is infinitely different from visiting it to get wasted/sightsee/whatever. As a current NYC resident (sophomore in college) and former NYC suburbanite, I can see the effects that it's taking on myself and my friends. Many of my friends, who were so enchanted with living in NYC just last year (their first) are now slowly losing the gusto they had behind it. It takes a certain kind of person to live in NY and enjoy it - a certain type of personality I think.
Anyway the entire argument of this thread is entirely based on varying perspectives. Some people appreciate cleanliness more than nightlife - some people appreciate diversity more than tourist destinations - things like that.
Also for the above poster, the three Gray's Papayas are not related to Papaya King, which I consider to be an evil hellspawn bent on using the term "Papaya" to gain market share. But hey, that's just my biased opinion.
<-- used to live a block from Gray's on 8th St. last year - misses every delicious onion covered bite
