alright people.

I'm taking a girl out to eat.

We're both culinarily adventurous and eat out often. I'm looking to take her to a place that will offer a unique dining experience. Not necessarily a gimmick, like the drag queens at Lucky Cheng's, but a really one-of-a-kind restaurant experience.

No idea is too dumb, post away!

thanks

db bistro, freeman's for brunch. dishes is a nice a la carte place for lunch. might be closed on weekends. they have a butterless, flourless and a bunch of other less chocolate chip cookie that tastes like heaven.

per se if you can get a reservation, you probably wont. it's like dorsia.

What kind of foods do you like? New York has basically every cuisine covered, so some additional information would help.

Tamarind blows... The food isnt great, portions are small.. Decent atmosphere though..

If you are both meat eaters, try one of the churascarria restaurants... Its brazilian grill food... google it... its pricey though

Ben Benson steakhouse on 56th also very nice... great wait staff, good food...

Its in bklyn, but i hear the food is good...

Monkey Town
58 N. 3rd st williamsburg.

Tailor (if you're into the whole molecular gastronomy thing)
it is awesome. pork belly w/ miso butterscotch hmmmm

ditto for WD-50 i always have fun at WD-50

i love Five Points for the decor, food is decent, but they have a river flowing down the middle of the restaurant. (brunch is awesome...dinner, not so much)

Public is a good..'sceney' place, but the food is great, drinks are good, and the decor is nice.

five points, and public are always my de facto 'date' spots...

Hearth would be awesome if you can sit at the chef's table...its walk-in only so thats perfect...i sat there once, and its just amazing watching the chefs do their thing, plus Marco Canora, the chef there always gives you some freebies, and you can chit chat w/ him and learn a thing or two...

i ddin't enjoy brunch at freeman's so much...nothing special.

I did enjoy brunch at Rayuela though...the huevos rancheros...omg. so awesome. and i normally hate huevos rancheros

for sushi. 15 East. its in union square, definetely one of the best sushi experiences i've ever had. obviosly, sit at the sushi bar, the sushi chef used to be head of jewel bako, and simply put...he is the man. little pricey though, spent about 400 for two. but that included a bottle of sake.

Da Nicos on Mulberry St. is awesome if you're in the mood for Italian:

http://danicorest.com/

Prices are pretty good for excellent-quality Italian food. You feel like you're getting the Godfather experience when you go in too lol.

Blue Smoke,
by fat the best ribs/comfort food I've had in my life. Their mac&cheese is nothing short of spectacular.

Blue Smoke is great, but i prefer R.U.B over in chelsea...

also, head to PDT, just walk into crif dogs, make a left into the phone booth...bam! theres a bar there, where you can order off the crif dogs menu, and it comes through a slot. its fun, drinks are good, you might have to make reservs though even though its just a bar, think milk and honey....

i think taking a girl to le bernadin on a first date is a little over the top no? once you've done that, you've set the bar high and will have to match that time and time again.

but if its 3-star michelin dining you want, le bernadin is certainly the way to do it...

i'll throw jean georges in there as well...the foie gras tartine brulee was the single most heavenly piece of food i have ever put in my mouth.
