I am following Zebo's Q n' Dirty OC guide. However my FSB(HTT) only tops out at 230ghz.

Is it my mobo? I have a Asus A8N5X, Optey 165, Corsair XMS Twinx Ram (ddr400).

TIA!

what settings did you set for vcore? Also you have to lower the HTT multi to 4x (or 800mhz) as you add more FSB.

Hi Gersson,

I lowered the cpu multi to 5 and HTT to 3 (out of 5). I didnt touch the vcore which was left at 1.35.

thanks!

It sounds like 230 is your motherboard's max, assuming you've locked the PCI bus @ 33 mhz and the PCI-E bus @ 100 (or the AGP @ 67). I've never heard of a motherboard maxing out that low, though.

Hi, I use clockgen to increase the FSB (HTT) and I noticed the PCI is not locked. How can I lock that? Do i do it in the bios?

thanks!

Yep, set your HTT multi to 3x, and your buses at what I said earlier, and you'll be ready to overclock, assuming you have your RAM timings (or divider) properly set.

I can't seem to lock my PCI.

In my bios I see 3 selecton under "pci clock sync mode" 1. is auot, 2. 33.33, 3 sync with cpu.

However, even if I choose 33.33, when I try to increase the FSB in clockgen, the pci mhz goes up.

TIA

33.33 is the correct setting.
Don't change your CPU multiplier. SHould be the highest (default) for you CPU to make the most of your OC. Optys can do up to 1.5 vcore (though it gets a litte hot).
Increase the vcore +.5v and see if anything's improved.

Thank for the reply Gersson, I raised the vcore to 1.425v but still can't get over 233FSB. Even at 233FSB, I can boot but I can't run windows more than 5 minutes without crashing.

Is my mobo the problem?

thanks!

That board has PCI and PCI-Express. The PCI Bus should be locked by default at 33mhz. The PCI-E bus is separate from your FSB/HTT, and it's 100 by default.

Why aren't you overclocking the RIGHT way - in your BIOS? I wouldn't trust what clockgen is saying if it is telling you that your PCI bus is being overclocked. There is no way to increase the PCI bus on that board. It's made for overclocking. You have some other problem.
