Newbe OC question for an experianced overclocker.

Ok So I'm sitting here with my Intel VC820 motherboard. No OC capabilities what so ever...Or so I thought. Here's where my question comes into play. Normally I used to do all my OC through the bios. Up in 1 MHZ increments. Too bad I blew out my mobo (don't ask )
But the mobo has a manual FSB indicator. 100Mhz or 133Mhz.

What harm could come to my entire system besides the fact of a complet CPU fail if I turned it to 133Mhz FSB. Like HD, Ram, CD Roms, Vid and sound cards, and so on. What could happen? Here's my specs

Intel VC820 Mobo
750Mhz PIII/100MHZ FSB
I/O Magic 16/12/40 CD-RW
ATi Radeon 8500 64MB DDR
Hercules Fortissimo II Sound Card
Maxtor 10GB and 40GB Hd's
Linksys EtherFast 10/100 v4
And of course... HP 1.44 Floppy

Thanks guys. I hope I can finally get some reassurance on it will work, or it will blow up. I just can't figure it out myslef. Would it go too high and all I need to do is turn it back down, or would it work fine, just hotter, well you get the idea, thanks again.

Intel motherboards don't have any overclocking options, so I would think the 133MHz option is for a 133MHz cpu. I think an 820 chipset does support a 133MHz cpu, so there must be provisions for the correct agp and pci divisors. Go for it, if you cpu has cCO or cDO stepping it should make 1GHz. If you need more core voltage, there is a vid pin trick for the FCPGA to take the core voltage to 1.9v. A good heatsink would definately increase your chances for success. Make sure you have some PC133, PC100 might have trouble.

Right you're absolutly correct. No OC capability with intel motherboards. You're right again the original VC820s did not support 133FSB. However as my manual states they went ahead and added support for the 133Mhz processors. Atleast I hope so. As for the PCI and AGP dividers I'll see if I can check on those (been a while since I was in the bios) I still need to check my steppings. How do I do that again? I vaguly remember but again not sure. As for the ram, it's genuine PC800 Rambus. Hey some of you may cringe and laugh but hey it's workin' lol aight, thanks again i'll go check my stepping.

Should I give it a try and try booting with the pin in the 133FSB position? Or does this chip have a chance of reaching 1Ghz at all, hmmm off to overclockers.com I go.

Hmm I checked my serial and it's SL456. As I looked through overclockers.com database the SL456 hit 1003Mhz max. So with my calcs 7.5*133 = 997Mhz so 6Mhz below their max recorded speed. I'm getting ancy here and just want to flip that jumper but ofcourse I'm nervouse as hell. Never manually OC before only bios. Hmm I'll wait for your responses.

if you see smoke......well, no explanation needed here
if you dont......check if it will boot and work fine.

i would recommend taking off all the parts off your computer. Only let the memory, CPU, heatsink/fan, and video card remain and unplug everything else including the hard drive and see if it will POST.

and one for thing...best of luck
