Newbie builder help - locking up due to bad MB or Systemworks?

This is my second build - the first ECS K7s5A / XP1600 runs fine. The problematic one is this:

Shuttle AK12A (Fry's combo)
T-bird 1.3 (retail)
512 PC133 (Crucial)
Radeon 32MB PCI
Antec 300W
WD 60 GB, 5400
16x DVD


Win ME installed fine, and I ran DVD's for a couple hours to test. DSL internet worked fine. I was able to download several drivers and small programs. Then I installed Norton Systemworks 2001. After that, the system locked on several download attempts and CD installs. Before I reformat and leave S-works out, I wanted to see if this could be a MB problem.

Do yourself a favor, uninstall system works first and see if everything is normal. In my humbleopinion, this application causes more problems than it fixes. The monitoring portions and system clean-up parts are dangerous and to be avoided. Just install the virus package. Chances are extremely high that Mr. Norton is causing your problem, especially with the burner.

The burner's actually working fine. Talked to my dad (his christmas present) and he says the system's working great. Oh well, I'll be the judge of that this weekend.
