I will be building the system listed below and will be trying some overclocking for the first time ever ...
I am going to be using the rear window kit to unlock my 850 Duron ...
But I am not sure excatly what would be my next step?
I have some ideas ... formating 45GB ... 4 partitions .. loading 98SE, then loading win2k on another partition...
Instaling VIA 1 in 4 +via sound, win2k SP1, and ata100 fix
but then I don't know how to start changing the voltage and multiplier ...I need some advice and how to start once all the O-Systems are working ..
Thanks

Your HS/F looks fairly good, so i think you'll be able to bump the voltage up to 1.85 and the I/O voltage to 3.4 or 3.5. You should first try to lower your multiplier, to lets say 7 or 7.5 or so, and then bring it to the 133 mhz bus speed. Then you should raise your multiplier to see how far you can get with the 133mhz FSB. Once you hit that limit, you then want to increase your FSB beyond 133. However, just for reference, it is probably better to sacrifice a few mhz for a higher FSB.

So what happens if I try that and the system don't start ? it wont damage anything wouldn't it ? I am thinking it will just not post and I will have to reset the bios by some jumper on the motherboard, and start over again !?? Correct !??

I suggest not overclocking that video card is just too slow you will not see any performance booest unless you do istributed computing(rc5, seti, etc.)

Even though it is an old PCI Matrox video card not an AGP ?
I can't overclock at all ? I guess I am going to have to get a new video card ...I don't really do any gaming and I like the 2D display on that card ... very clear !!Do you guys recommend anything around $30-$50 !? Does it have to be AGP !?

I would recommend NOT pushing your FSB to 133. Start at 100 and push the clock speed up until you can't go any further. By jacking up the FSB, you affect other components in your system that may no be able to handle it. Clock Speed only affects the CPU. Once you have maxed out clock speed, move on to the FSB. You don't have an Asus A7V mobo, but it is notoriously unstable past an FSB of 110. Your mobo may not have this problem, but it does have the same chipset...

If you are lucky, you can get 9.5x107 = 1017.

Good Luck!

slowly bring up your FSB and put it through a stability test. Each time it is successful, raise the FSB a little more and test again. Once it crashed, bring it back down a step or do and raise the multiplier.

I'm pretty sure that the mobo he has, is with the KT133A chipset, meaning that he CAN raise the FSB to 133.
