Newbie question on Win 2000

Are there any significant problems in using Windows 2000 Pro on a home computer. I mean issues with using it with home software like games, print shop etc. Any other issues I should be concerned about. I currently use Win 98 but have an opportunity to buy a system with Win 2000 included. Thanks.

Go for minimum 128 RAM, but other than that, W2K Pro really is slick and is, I feel, a real improvement on W98. Can't say about games tho, as I don't have any!

Yeah I used to be a big fan of Win98 but the stability was always a problem. When Win2K first came out I didn't like it, it was immature and didn't work the way I had hoped. Now that it's a little older and many of the bugs have been worked out, and many manufacturers support it, I prefer Win2K. Especially on newer systems, IMHO Win2K is the better Windows solution.

MikePike, what exactly do you like better about it? I too might change from 98SE, but have no idea what I might gain.

W2K is worlds above Win9x in all aspects.
Hardware and Game Compatibility

It all depends on your hardware. I would check for Win2K drivers for all your hardware BEFORE you decide to take the plunge. My first experience with it was terrible, but then again the driver support was almost non-existant. Plus I make sure I do all the updates, including the latest service pack, which can take quite a while to download depending on your connection. I'm very impressed by the stability of this OS. It's not perfect of course, don't get deulsions that all your problems will disapeer. Plus I like the thought that this release is optimized for newer processors like the PIII and the Athlon, whereas 98 and 98SE were optimized for older procs.
