Newbie video question, I guess: R8500 vs. Gf4 TI4200?

Okay...I have a choice between getting a 64MB Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4200, or a 64MB ATi Radeon 8500. Now I'd love to know...which one is better? Overclockability, drivers, DX8/DX9...the whole nine. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!

If they're the same price, then I'd say the Ti4200 is the better deal. The only advantage the Radeon 8500 has over the Ti4200 is PS 1.4, but in most general gaming instances the Ti4200 will be faster.

There is no question, the ti4200 will blow it away. The 8500 was made to compare to a Geforce III card and it does that well but it does not compare to the 4200.

The Ti4200 is usually the better card but when you crank up the resolution and the level of anisotropy the 8500 will eat it alive.

For the same price, take the Ti 4200 card. It will perform better in most cases.

Actually, the $79 for Ti4200 deal is pretty hot. You can't go wrong at that price.

well... yea... but it doesn't mean that your card supports DX9's new features. Just like R7500 can't display 3dm2k1's DX8 pixel shader test (because it does not supports DX8 features)

get that abit 4200.. the OTES card. or the msi card with the higher rated memory. both are supposed to oc like mofos, or so i hear...
