Ya, that's a good find! I like the 1.5v too.

Just ordered 2 (2x4GB) sets of this. After rebate, it will be arounf $110.00. That's a steal!! RAM cannot get too much cheaper than this, so it seemed like a good time to buy. I can now not spend so much time watching for good deals....^_^

For now, I will probably just use 3x4GB (12Gb) in my system, and keep the other 4GB DIMM handy for a socket 2011 build later this year. I can sell my 6GB of existing RAM and get a little for that. Sweet deal! It's pretty cool that you can claim more than one MIR too. PNY FTW.

Usually not a great idea to buy for the future; esp if that future is a year out. Either prices will drop or the standard will change or both.

me on the other hand;well when SB is available again....

DDR3 will be the standard well into 2012 and possibly even early 2013. RAM is at historically low levels now and since prices are volatile, I've been debating picking some up for my next build, which might happen in the fall.

I've been thinking along those same lines, but haven't yet decided if I'm more likely to build an Intel or AMD system, so there's the question: dual-channel or triple-channel kit?

Theres hardly anything gained with triple channel. I wouldn't worry about that.

I actually did some testing with an e5200 @ 3ghz and tested single channel performance to dual channel performance. The result? Most apps got up to 2-4% boost. Games/OpenGL up to 6%.

I doubt i7 would get much more than that going from dual channel to triple channel. Its more of a gimick than a performance booster imo.

Um, no?

I can use 3/4 of this in my existing triple-channel system and with my next build. Why spend more later, when this has PLENTY of bandwidth to handle future tasks? I didn't regret stocking-up on DDR2 back a few years ago when it was dirt-cheap, and I just don't see DDR3 getting appreciably more cheap than it currently is. It is a great time to buy if you plan on any future builds this year IMHO. What's to lose? You could always sell these to someone else and recoup most of your costs anyways...

So guys, any recommendations on an 8 GB 1.5 V, DDR3-1600 kit? I estimate I'll upgrade in the fall or winter. I do OC, but I tend to buy RAM that will be faster than my OC so I won't need to worry about that component being an issue.

I grabbed two of These since ive had great experiences with G.Skill in the past and i wanted ones with low profile heat-spreaders so i know they wont get in the way of any large cpu Heatsink i may use in a future build.

Isn't sandy bridge multiplier overclocking now? Do you even need to push ram out of spec to do that?

One good deal is this PNY 2x4GB DDR3-1333 1.5v kit about $85 - $13 discount - $20 rebate = $52

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820178333

The rebate is good for up to 3 kits.

Do most motherboards support 16GB of RAM ? I'll be building a new rig after the summer, not overclocking, but think now may be a good time to grab the RAM and figured at this price, might as well spring for another.

Also does DDR3 1333 versus DDR 1600 matter, if I am not overclocking ?

I've got a question. I bought these about a year ago.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231193

And now due to this deal, I would like to buy these and put it in the same system.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220484

Are the different voltages gonna matter? Or should it run just fine?

Yes, they matter. That Patriot memory is likely not as good as the memory you have right now, and you'll be forced to run your old memory at 1.65v if you want to mix and match. That's a big jump for memory not meant for overclocking. I'd just go for G.Skill again: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231416. It's the same price before rebate.

You are correct, but the 1600 will most likely allow tighter timings for SB and can also be used in my current rig which is a i7 920@4.2ghz.
