The 5770 seems hot, i have a SAPPHIRE 100283L Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT), would i be able to add another 5770 from a different vendor or is it best to keep them the same?

Amazingly, 5850 and 5870 prices are already going up, perhaps in anticipation of a poor showing by Nvidia's Fermi.

Please note, that 5770 is NOT a reference model. It has 512M of RAM vs 1024M. This may or may not affect compatibility with ATI's drivers or ability to crossfire with a more conventional card.

Not a thread dump. I've run across people citing issues with that particular board which may or may not be related to the nonstandard memory.

i have noticed pc hardware prices have been the same if not more lately. my standard assumption of 40% annual depreciation on every dollar i spend on PC hardware has not been the case. in the case of memory and video cards it has gone up since my last purchase in October (4 gig DDR3, 5770) havent seen that in 10 years! man, i sound old.

I know what you mean. Both our "main" rigs were put together with parts bought at B&M retail....Fry's and MicroCenter, specifically. All bought on sale. (Such as i7 920 @ $199, i5 750/Gigabyte P55A-UD3 combo for $200, 6GB Corsair DDR3-1600 for $150, etc.)

I've been amazed that almost without exception my parts are holding their value, if not actually increasing like my 5850 I bought the day of release, instead of declining.

i love how i bought 4gb of ddr2 right after the financial crisis for $10 after rebate from frys, and its $80 now.

i have a friend who bought a core i7 920 from microcenter aroudn then, and he's like... well theya ctually went up in value so fantastic.
