I just got my tbird 1.33ghz cpu from newegg.com for 173.00... it's a pretty good price, but I was very surprised when my chip came and turned out to be an AXIA chip. I think that's a VERY good deal then.

not bad, but can't be gurantee thats its an axia.

Actually if you get a 1.33GHz you CAN be guaranteed an AXIA since that's the only stepping used for that particular clock speed.

I wanted to order 1.33. Do you have any sites to back your statement?

If you care soo much about AXIA's, why do you order a 1.33ghz? why not order a 1ghz thatwill most likely overclock just as well?

the only realson I would want a 1.3ghz is a change at a Ayjha (sounds like a sneeze ) so I could try 1.7ghz.

<< around 1.6 is the MAX you can get air cooled right now with a athlon >>

Bull.

some of the new 1.33's can do 1.7 and some 1.4s can do 1.8

TimidOcer he did say around 1.6ghz and 1.7/1.8 is pretty close to 1.6 buddy. Damn snappy. Besides 1.7 and 1.8 is pretty rare (i think). It changes all the time ... next week itll be a max of about 6ghz from a 3ghz chip =)

Anyone familiar with OCing knows that the difference of 20mhz can be a huge gap, so I think that a difference on 100-200 is a pretty big deal.

I got a 1GHz AXIA from Newegg (266FSB) and it can only do 1132 stable. If I try another other combination of trying to achieve 1.2GHz or above it won't be stable even at max voltage. This is using a FOP-38 and arctic silver. I can easily boot into Windows part way but eventually it just crashes the whole computer. Who knows, maybe I screwed up when penciling in the L1 bridges.

phatstyl: No offensive, but you do realize we're online right. There's really no way he could prove he did it unless he drove over to your place, plopped his case down and let you examine it. You gotta lighten up some.

CuriousG: you should try to draw your L1 bridge again, same thing happen to me. my avia (266) can't do 1.2ghz but once i drew my line again and swith from a super orb to a taisol 742092 with delta 60mm, it does 1.4 ghz stable. i personally can't tell the difference between 1ghz and 1.33ghz, maybe is just me

I'm not trying to defend or offend anyone...don't flame me...(lol)

1.6ghz to 1.8ghz is a 200Mhz difference...pretty obvious, right?

ok...that's all. don't hate...

How exactly do you know the stepping? Do I look for the letters "AXIA" or "AYHJA"?

Yup, the actually letters are on the second line of the CPU die. Makes it easy that way.
