maybe all the inept user buy epox!!!@!

I agree, nothing worse than PUDs spreading FUD. I try to stay informative with a positive tone, but considering many new system builders come here for sound advice, BS from those who have lotsa posts sounds like gospel. Considering I rarely see any mods here (they only seem to be worried about the Hot Deals and FS/FT forums), its important to bust out the flamethrower once in a while to dispose of some of the d00d00 on these boards.

I just wish more new system builders were like MooseAndSquirrel, sounds like he was on top of things when he was putting his rig together and it still didn't work. But his approach was right on, and he seems very meticulous in his methods. That doesn't mean the board was a dud though, b/c as much as I love this board, I will admit, its pretty picky about what components it likes to play nice with. Definitely not a problem-free board, but its performance is unparalleled IMO.

I just built a system with the 8KHA+ I purchased from Newegg and I have to say that it was the easiest and most problem free system I have ever built. Not only that, I can't believe how great the performance and stability are.
I highly recommend this board and Newegg.

Is it safe to order the 8KHA+ mobo from Newegg.com now that it's back in stock? Will it matter if I buy it elsewhere, such as mwave.com? Will I still likely receive a defective board from mwave as newegg, etc?

I'm ready to buy stuff

Getting a defective board is like a crap-shoot...Doesn't really matter where you get it from. You will more than likely get a perfectly working board. RTFM, take your time and set it up right. Should be good to go. Now, go out and buy it...

<< Many of the problems with the 8KHA+ are user error. People come on to Anandtech, read a few articles and proclaim themselves an expert on PCs. Then they do something wrong and blame it on the motherboard. Sure, there are many valid problems but I believe many to be user error. >>

I'd have to disagree...I've had 2 bad 8kha+'s in a row from Newegg, and it isnt user error. All the componets work fine in my Soltek board, but the Epox will not get past the FF error. Just because your works doesn't mean that everyone that has a dead one is a computer n00b.

I just had to RMA an 8k7a back to newegg. It's been 3.5 weeks and they haven't received it yet...I guess it's lost in the mail...ugh...

Here is the problem. Epox shoulda left the damned error code LED right off the board.

++++++ FF is NOT an error +++++++

That means everything is peachy. Be thankful for the FF. geez... I wonder how many boards went back just because they were reading FF.

After your computer has booted the LED's mean nothing, They can say anything, The best thing to do is just don't look at them

Wow! This is the first I've heard of problems with the Epox boards. I have two friends running the 8KHA+ with no problems, and my past experience with the Epox boards has been excellent. I'll have to look into this a little more...

Yes i have to agree... the FF on the LED must mean nothing! I was ignoring it anyway, but just noticed its showing "FF" on my other pc... Runs great. no issues. I love this board.

Now it not posting right outta the box.. dunno. maybe there were a few bad ones... but i would try different power supplies 1st.

If you are getting the post code "FF" during windows. Please disregard the
post code.Since,The Power On Self Test (POST) LED is a troubleshooting tool
used during the
boot up to diagnose problems. However, after the system completes the POST
procedure and control is passed over to your operating system theinformation
displayed is of no value. At this point any information displayed on the LED
can be ignored.
The POST LED feature obtains its information from address port 80h. But
after boot the operating system and/or software may write to port 80h
causing the display to change - there is no reason for concern.

when the board goes straight to FF on power on without going through any other codes theres something wrong with it. when replaced with another board that board cycles through some other codes then gets to FF and everything is peachy. FF isn't an error code per se, but it can and does pop up when something is wrong.

I've had the 8kha+ w/ an Athlon 900 for about 2 months now (from NewEgg). It was one of the easiest builds I've ever done (have built about 2 dozen systems using Asus, Soyo, Biostar, Abit, and MSI). Rock solid stable (running Win XP).

Now I find that I've got an FF error - guess I better RMA it

IMHO this is a great board. I'd hate to see NewEgg, which is also a great company to deal with, stop selling EPOX because of a high RMA rate - especially boards returned because of an "FF error."

Agree with you chaswood - just got an EPOX 8KHA+ and it even beat my MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU but by a hair's breath only. Sahweet board. I posted all the major post codes over in the EPOX forum at www.amdmb.com (oops should I do this).
Someone asked about RMA rate and I believe that POS ECSK75SA probably has the highest RMA rate.

I didn't have a chance to read the whole thread, but did you guys see the new motherboard lineup over at compgeeks? They recently got a ton of Epox boards. I wonder what that is all about? Maybe it's not related at all, I don't know.
