Your post is interesting, 'cause to be honest, it has not been my experience that Newegg has good-->great prices on most things. Their customer service is outstanding. Their prices on motherboards, CPUs, and (occasionally) RAM are usually the cheapest (or tied with Googlegear/ZipZoom) after you factor in inflated shipping charges at other retailers. I would never go there for things like cases, hard drives, video cards (though their OEMs are usually decently priced), etc.
Newegg is always the FIRST place I check, but it sure isn't the only place I get my parts from. But thats okay...no single outfit is going to have the lowest price on everything at everytime.
NOBODY can be the cheapest all the time on everything. You make an excellent point about service. Believe it or not, service costs. Newegg and others like them invest in people and systems to give such a high level of service. It's like the old Valvoline commercials... "you can pay me now, or you can pay me later"
[RANT]That's the problem with this country today. All everyone wants is the "cheapest". Untill service becomes an issue. Once someone experiences a problem, they want top service. But the problem enters when they bought the "cheapest" and expect "top of the line service". My personal experience selling at retail is that the customer who is always on the cheap is also the most difficult to deal with when a problem arises. IMHO Newegg will never miss this guy's business. [/RANT]
