Close to $1/GB for an SATA 6Gbps SSD isn't bad at all. The m4 isn't the fastest SSD out there, but they are still plenty fast and seem to be pretty solid and reliable.

I had a pretty bad experience with RAID-0 and SSDs. My OCZ Agility 30GB SSDs, planned to run two in RAID-0, but after only a week without TRIM, the whole RAID array benchmarked slower than a single drive.

Garbage Collection is key here. My Intel X25-M's are G1s which don't have trim. However, they have really good garbave collection. Performance is within 5% after a year of running the array. This is a 4 drive array.

Yeah I wouldn't want to do a SF controller in RAID I don't think. But Intel or Crucial I would.
