is this some kind of a piss match?

My E8400 does everything I need AND some........but I still have my 1k in the bank (and you don't)

:hmm:

umm I am only out $300 CPU + mobo (already had the memory) - minus selling the Q6600 and mobo that was in there.

And mine works way faster for what I use it for, compared to an E8400.

Why did newegg stopped selling p67's?I would be very happy to buy one p67 motherboard $50 off .As long as it has 4 sata 6 ports.

Great, you get 1 internet point. Congrats

No - just pushing back a bit on the "ohhhhh my heart goes out to all the dunderheads who happened to buy SB and now look at the royal mess they're in" attitude from several posts. I don't really see how my life has gotten a whole lot worse since Sunday, and I can still use my PC anyway until someone allows me to replace my board. People act as if this is the most horrible thing that could happen to a person.

And my 2600K does everything you need AND some.....more......:awe:

For me its $800 actually, and for me I was going to buy a new PC anyway to upgrade my 2005 vintage Pentium D, so I guess I had all that extra money in the bank that you spent on your E8400 earning returns over the past several years while I bided my time waiting for an upgrade.......

Not sure what you are trying to get at?

This thread has nothing to do with "ohhhhh my heart goes out to all the dunderheads who happened to buy SB and now look at the royal mess they're in"

It's simply about the fact that Newegg not only stopped selling 1155 CPUs but also made it disappear from options etc. I don't believe I have ever seen that before...I would think they would mark it "unavailable" but still have it searchable.

Sounds like you bought your SB for bragging rights....

My socket 1155 items don't even show up in my order history.

That's odd. Mine does. I just loaded it now to look.

That's pretty much my situation. Once I sold my Core i7 920 CPU and motherboard it came close to cost neutral for me. Total upgrade cost was less than $100 including all shipping and Ebay fees and everything. My Asus P8P67 board has 4 SATA6 ports too and I only have two drives to hook up, so I'm content with my purchase.

Rejoice 1155 2600K users (myself included) that are rocking a system that smokes your 1156 for the next 2 months while nobody else can buy SB!

Umm actually, rejoice 1366 920 owners who have been rocking a system that performs just as good as yours for over 2 years now.

Maybe they will be cheap on Ebay.

If the issue was serious, then yes, they would probably be cheap on ebay.

Because the issue seems to be minor for many users (4 SATA ports are risky to use; 2-4 work fine, depending on if you've the Marvell chip driving 2 more ports or not), I could see prices actually going up on ebay, because very few people will be looking to sell their otherwise quite functional boards.

There is now a situation where 1155 boards and CPU's are going to be hard to buy until this gets sorted out, so anyone looking to take the plunge has no choice but to buy through message boards or through a site like ebay.

I think what he means is that Newegg pulled not only MBs, but all CPUs as well. You can no longer buy any Sandy Bridge-based products. That's pretty huge.
And his point is that Intel pushing other competitors out of the chipset market has kind of backfired on them. At least if Intel had allowed nVidia or someone else to make chipsets for these sockets, they could at least be selling Sandy Bridge CPUs right now and making some money.

Great point!!! I bet there are a lot of execs at nVidia, AMD, VIA, etc. laughing out loud at Intel's huge f'up!!

Wow, that's crazy. Will they fix the issue and resume selling the platform or what?

fwiw, according to micro center's website, they still sell the SB processors in the store...and you can still buy the chips and motherboards on ebay. so for an individual there shouldn't be any reason why you can't have SB now, unless you really want to use the sata2 ports on the board...but i would just get one with enough sata 3 ports. *shrug* not that big of a deal for an individual.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. Newegg has recently become aware of a design issue that is affecting recent models of Intel Sandy Bridge platform motherboards. We are working with Intel to identify the exact nature of this problem.

As always, Newegg remains 100% committed to our customers' total satisfaction. In keeping with our commitment to our customers, we are extending the return period for your motherboard by 90 days or until replacements become available from the manufacturer, whichever is greater. Intel expects to have a new revision of the P67 & H67 chipsets out around April, at which point first-run motherboards with this issue will need to be physically replaced in affected systems.

From a technical standpoint, the design issue can be bypassed fairly simply by not using the Serial ATA (SATA) ports that are affected. Your motherboard’s manual should identify your SATA ports by number, and at a minimum you should see ports 0-5 (6 ports in total) listed. Ports 0 and 1 are Sata Rev. III (6Gbps), and do not appear to be affected by this problem. Ports 2-5 are SATA Rev. II (3Gbps) and should not be used. For a thorough explanation of this hardware work-around, please refer to our video on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJcE2alQPvY

If you choose to use the hardware work-around option, there is no need to contact us at this time. We have your information on record and will email you as soon as the replacements become available. If you would like to discuss this with our tech community or read up on the latest updates, please visit our EggXpert forum:
http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/682006.aspx

If none of the above options are suitable to your needs and you wish to return the board at this time for a full refund, please email us at intelsandybridge@newegg.com and include your sales order number so we can help you out with your return.

If you have any concerns, please contact Newegg Customer Service for further information and assistance.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Your Newegg.com Customer Service Team

Just got this from Newegg so their recall is in full swing. I'll be keeping my Mobo and just not using the Sata3 ports.

I just got an email from newegg. They will refund 100%, no questions asked, no restocking, If I just want my money back.

I may, just becase I don't like this extreme 4, I will get an ASUS or Gigatype board... But not until I can buy a new motherboard.

I see I got beaten to the punch, and with the full text.... Too slow a typer.

Buyers remorse? Totally overkill for playing BC2. My 760 at 4.2ghz was plenty

They probably will take it back, you can't exactly use the CPU with no mobo. I'm not sure how much of that cost Newegg would actually have to eat and how much they'll pass on to Intel though. I'm sure there has to be some policy or plan in place for all those CPUs that are out there.

Just wondering why you don't like the ASRock? I'm admittedly a building noob, but mine seems to work just great and I like the features/price combo.
