Newegg handing out invalid tracking numbers?

This happen to anyone else lately?

My most recent order just shipped, and it has a tracking number, but when I click it, their site says it's invalid. It's not a UPS or USPS one.

It'll be fine. I've had some (even from Amazon) that if I check right after it ships it will show that it was delivered to the UK in 2009.

System will eventually update.

What has me slightly concerned, is that it doesn't say "no tracking info found", it actually says the tracking number is "invalid".

Well, it's not just that. My friend went to Newegg using a link I sent him on Skype, and he got one of those dialog boxes saying he needed to update his flash player. (Virus).

And this weekend, Newegg's own stock of SSDs and miniPcs wasn't even showing up in their listings.

I worry that Newegg was hacked.

Ordered 32GB of PC2166 DDR3 memory from them last week and the UPS tracking number I received the day of my order was valid...even though it said it may take up to 24 hours to show up, it was already in the UPS system a few hours later...

UPS tracking number generally takes up to 24 hours to be able to show tracking for. Even longer if you order on the weekend, since UPS won't pick up until Monday. Same with any other company that gives you UPS tracking info on the weekend. It just means that they've generated a label, with a tracking number on it.

And even with all that, it's still better than USPS tracking!

Well, I guess I did jump the gun slightly. The tracking number is Fedex, and it's finally showing in their system. Still hasn't shipped out yet. If it were UPS, I would expect it tomorrow. Fedex? Who knows.

FedEx can't deliver it before Newegg gives it to them. ()

Rule of thumb - if it hasn't been 24 hours the tracking number is probably not processed yet.
